I have seen the upcoming toggle option for Halo 3/Online Armor, and that it will also include Visors and Weapon Skins in it. And that sort of bums me out, because I like the Visors.
And then I had a thought: Perhaps, instead of having a ‘You do or you don’t.’ system, we could have it on Armor Piece by Armor Piece bases?
For example: Say you don’t like the new stuff, except for, I dunno, the Air Assault helmet? You could turn everything off, except for that.
Another one: Say you hate the Recon Armor, because Bungie not giving it to you created deep seeded trauma in you. Well, just turn it off!
What do you think about that?
EDIT: I forgot to say, this could apply to other cosmetics too. Maybe you don’t like the yellow Visors, because they look too much like the Default one. Easy fix with this system.
EDIT 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: Another, more minor idea. I have never really liked the emblems on Spartans/Elites. Strange, I know. So, as a reference to classic MCC, we could have the option to turn them off? Although, I’m fine if that doesn’t happen.
To be honest, that sounds like an extremely complicated solution to a problem that should only have an easy one: two toggles. One for visor and skins, the other for armour.

Really? Why? The way I see it, everybody wins.

Because you’re talking about 20-30 toggles being added. Probably even more if 343i ever decide to add more content to Halo 3. No matter which way you cut it, that’s a long list to go through.
I suppose though that there is some middle ground here. Say you did like the Air Assault helmet but disliked the others, well how about a toggle that disables the armour by set rather than individually. That way only several toggles get added. For instance, if one disliked the Air Assault armour, it could look like: AIR ASSAULT SET - ON/OFF.

Hm… That is a good point… Perhaps that toggle could be in the customisation menu? Then, if you just hover over the select thing, and press the set button, then it would toggle?
Also, about the set by set system. I prefer mine, but I could live with that.
The easiest thing, and the thing that makes the most sense, is 2 toggles. Weapon and Vehicle Skins On/Off. New Armor On/Off. This seemed to be the consensus of what people wanted too when those hideous armors were revealed. So it’s no surprise to me that 343 lumped them all in as one. I’m going to play with the new stuff on because I really like the weapon skins, but man, I may end up going legacy… Will have to play a few games and see if the good (skins) outweigh the bad (armor).

Shame too. I’m a big fan of the Visors. Makes my ODST look more authentic.
I said this elsewhere, the double toggle is most likely possible, but I don’t expect it.
Also, the (disreputable) persons that like the new stuff would want to have Hayabusa toggled off to prove some silly point. Just ask for mod support on Xbox, then everyone can have their own way.
