The thing I don’t like about Ordance drop is the randomness about it. I never know what the enemy has.
In old Halos, after memorizing the maps, I knew what possible weapons were on the map and adjusted accordingly.
I personally have no problem with the idea of ordnance drops, it gives an incentive to do well and gives an avenue to possibly help out your team but…it takes away from the arena feeling when its random.
So I was thinking if when an enemy calls in an ordnance, the announcer on the your team calls out “Incoming Enemy Spartan Laser” or “The enemy has requested additional grenades”
That way there’s a bit of thought involved. Either you can pick up a weapon from the ground and the enemy possibly doesn’t know about it, or you call in a powerful weapon but the enemy knows of its presence.
Great idea Predictability and expectations in gameplay lead to good competative and social experiences.
I would like to see the ordinance system return in halo 5 with it being rewarding but also not breaking. Maybe only include mid power weapons and grenades in it only? For example: the concussion rifle, some grenades, or another skill power weapon they could include or think of.
Also maybe having the power ups return on the maps as well.
Yes, because we want to make poor old Jeff Steitzer yell even more stuff in our ears.
Then again, if he’s getting well paid and agrees… I hope he records a butt load of things for the franchise and allows Microsoft to keep a treasure trove of his voice so halo games in the distant future can still pay homage to him.
Even if ordinance is random it could at least be equal. The first person to earn ordinance (weather they be red or blue) gets to pick from options: a, b, or c. the first person to earn ordinance on the other team also get to pick from the same selection of: a, b, or c. This continues on down the line, even if red team gets five drops in a row, blue will get the same options when they eventually earn their corresponding drops.

I always thought a tiered ordnance system was superior. People compare the ordnance drop to call of duty’s killstreaks when its more like the random box. If 343 is going to copy Call of Duty’s killstreaks, they should at least do it the same way. Where lower point streaks are a weaker a selection and say by the time you earn something like a killing frenzy you start getting things like incineration cannons.
Anything to add a layer of predictability and stability to it.

Hearing that guy say things like “Killing Spree!” and “Buck Wild!” is one of Halo’s finer qualities in my opinion. Awesomeness with a dash of absurdity, just like Duke Nukem.
While a tiered system would be more predictable, it would (like you pointed out) also be more COD. I was just trying to come up with something a little different for halo to call it’s own.

Simply because something is in COD, doesn’t mean its not a good idea.
COD’s killstreak system works really well, and only very skilled and knowledgeable players tend to acquire the higher killstreaks on a consistent basis.
In Halo 4 this is not the case, and adds to a chaotic and frustrating environment.
Only onne ordinance weapon type allowed at one time…simple…
If someone gets rockets first…the other team can’t…this way there is only one of each at a time like previous halos and if you can’t get something then you know the other team has it, hence letting you plan for it.
Now that’s the most simplistic way I see of fixing it.
Call of duty’s kill streak system isn’t bad, it’s just not Halo; but then again, neither is power weapon spamming chaos. I guess we’ll just have to wait till Halo 5 to see what 343 thinks up to improve the point reward system.
Yea, I guess you’re right. Just wait and see for Halo 5. It is surprising though, Gears has kept the same power weapon system as Halo for all games and hasn’t changed it. Then again Gears isn’t doing as well as Halo at the moment.
At least with ordinance, you give some, and you take some. The warthog on the other hand is a one way ticket to a spectacularly fiery demise. Lets hope their new back end tuning system can fix this.
