I have no problems with paying for expansions but all armors need to be unlockable
Putting armors behind actual expansions will be a better incentive for monetization than locking them behind season passes and microtransactions
I dont particularly care if 343i decides to lock some skins behind microtransactions and season passes- I actually think it would be good for the overall game
However I do think that most new armors should be used to sell expansions to singleplayer
i never understood the armor “hype”.
just for seeing a part of my arm in campaign?
if there comes an expansion, armor is the least i care about in a 30$ dlc.
I’m thinking they’re gonna go for the battle pass route since it’s F2P. Doubt there will be season passes.
given the campaign is separate from multi, I find this unlikely. I think a vast majority should be unlockable. Whether that be through a BP progression system, a challenge unlock system or a combination of both (ideal situation). That being said, if there are some that are event specific that cost money, im fine with it. As long as the stuff earnable via challenges or progression are = in quality
I also have an idea for monetization.
Make a great game that people actually want to buy.
Charge for legitimate dlc.
Cut the rest of this crap out.
If I have to pay for my character to look good then 343 has failed at their jobs.
If they make quality people will buy the product. Charge what they need to but then stop.
I am so tired of feeling like games are squeezing their fan bases for every yoinking cent.
I like to think that the F2P Multiplayer is just a way to get a wider audience, so that more people buy the $60 game. Once you pay the $60, then you get the complete game. I expect the F2P multiplayer to be very limited, regarding customization but also in custom games and forge and other multiplayer facets. Once you pay $60, you get everything. So it’s not really monetization so much as it is “Would you like a free sample?”
I reckon there’s like a 90% chance it will be a Battle Pass of sorts. Almost every game does it now.
You should be able to get rewards from the campaign, since its not F2P but the F2P people have to have a battle pass maybe

Yes, please, let us who will pay 60€ for campaign have more than guys who will get just mp for free.
I would be fine with weapon and vehicle skins be pretty much buy only but not anything that is part of the spartan like armor color or armor So I think it would be a good idea to make the people who don’t buy the full game have to pay for armor skins but I feel like if you buy the campaign you should be able to look however you want or at least be able to earn the look you want. sorry for a lack of punctuation
Hey, this is a product for making money… The most money. So battle pass seems most likely. But I hope they throw a few direct-purchases in there, because that’s more my style of ‘consumption.’ Buy off the shelf, not through a subscription disguised as battle pass.

Umm no thanks. I’d rather they stick with the Reach unlock system so all armours can be unlocked offline…except without excessive wait times to unlock content.

Would be awesome but that doesn’t push people to play every season to unlock stuff

And that’s what I’m concerned about plus I’m kind of sick of predatory systems that I keep seeing in modern games where if players miss out then company’s pull some ‘pay to unlock credits’ nonsense to complete missing points or they miss out on content.

Yup. That’s unfortunately the best system for profits and engagement though so unless that changes, we’re stuck with it.
I really really hate seasons. I just want a classic store system
In my opinion, I would prefer if every item which can be used in the customization system is locked behind a major challenge like SR152 in Halo 5, max rank MCC, completing the campaign on Legendary or something similar to that in order to give the items a greater meaning. There doesn’t exist anything more boring that giving out the items for free or locking items behind a pay wall.
