This was a little idea I had. The name “Instant Action” comes from the fact that the playlist does not use a skill rank, instead matching you with the players it can find in the shortest amount of time.
What differs between “Instant Action” and the “Social” Playlists? I will explain. “Instant Action” comes in two types: Team Instant Action and Instant Action.
If Halo 5’s Social playlists allow custom laodouts, another different is made: Players in Instant Action Playlists only spawn with an AR, Magnum, and Frags. Instant Action also does not allow voting for maps and gamemodes. Instead, it is more of a “grab bag”. It also uses more classic rules, such as no Flagnum for CTF, and no throwing the Oddball. Additional weapons are spawned on map, with Power Weapons dropping via Ordinance (but not personal ordinance. That really needs to go die in a fire.)
Team Instant Action(5v5):
-Slayer
-KotH
-CTF
-Ricochet
-Extraction
-Assault
-Stockpile
Instant Action(8 player FFA)
-Slayer
-KotH
-Oddball
-Regicide
-Headhunter
-Elimination
-Juggernaut
So, what do you think about this?
How exactly does the matchmaking work in halo 4 then? I thought it already was something like instant action. To me playing halo 4 is like like buying a dozen assorted donuts. You dont know what you’re gonna get.
people who don’t like long wait times might like this but personally I’d rather wait longer if it meant I’m playing against people within my skill range.
Basically this is the same as Social Classic Team AR’s Skirmish, as social doesn’t use skill-based, it uses fast search times.
I guess if there’s a market for that, most people don’t seem to like AR starts though.

It’s mainly supposed to be something that players would just be able to select and find a match, hence, instant action. And since there would be no voting for map/gametype, there would be a lot faster lobby-to-game transition.
Sounds cool
A good way to force yourself out of your comfort zone and into unknown maps and gametypes!
