Idea for game type to satisfy both sides

I don’t know if this has been posted about in the past so I’m sorry if there’s already a discussion going. I was playing the beta earlier and to me it feels like the ttk, weapon damage, etc. are all at least CLOSE to what they were in previous Halos. (I know it’s controversial, just hear me out) The abilities totally change the gamefeel, I definitely won’t argue against that. They’re not changes I mind, but I know a lot of people feel differently. Would people be a little more satisfied if 343i put a sort of “Halo Classic” type of playlist? And a real one, not a “classic… except there’s loadouts… and sprint” type of classic. I feel like if the new spartans were stripped of all of their abilities including sprint that the game may feel a lot like earlier halos. I’ve played a couple of rounds in the beta avoiding the use of any of the abilities and I fared okay. To me (though bear in mind I have NO idea how programming games works) it seems like something they could totally do, just allow for a sort of “off” switch for certain spartan powers. I feel like adding a TRUE classic playlist or two could help more of the community enjoy the game. It’d also present a lot of freedom to play the game how you’d like. Please don’t rip me to shreds. I’m just trying to bring us all back together gang.

In order for a classic playlist to work these things would have to happen:

  • Remove sprint, since the maps are designed around sprint, base player movement would have to be increased.- Remove thrusters, clamber, ground pound, slide and that weird floating aim thingy.That’s really it, unless I forgot something. These would most likely be as simple as checking an option in a box. If we had a playlist like this, it would definitely go a very long way to satisfying alot of people.
