Idea for Equipment/Powerups

Okay, so a lot of people didn’t like armor abilities in Reach- I liked them at first, but then it got old, and they were abused so much. And I was thinking- what they did was cool and everything, but everyone started out differently, and I’m starting to miss Halo the way it was when everyone started out the same.

My idea: Everyone starts out the same, no abilities, same weapons (except for maybe a few game types), but there are various powerups/pickups throughout the map.
Some examples/ideas:

Jetpack- starts out at 100%, can be drained, used up completely, drains much slower, and flies slightly faster and higher
Active camo- able to be toggled like the jetpack, has a percentage/meter that’s drained when you use it, and doesn’t come back, none of these recharge, and you’re completely invisible like in Halo:CE - 3.
Overshield- same as the Halo games before Reach, cannot be toggled
Bubbleshield(s)- more like Halo 3 version, but smaller, and more like the one shown on the Halo 3 teaser trailer(how it’s thrown, sound, size, etc.), can carry 2, maybe 3 at once.
HoloSpartan- kind of like the HoloDuke on Duke Nukem (haha), but anyways- 100%, able to be depleted, but also shoots at the opposing team and doesn’t just run straight.
Armor Lock- Okay, just bear with me, this would be able to be depleted completely, and not everyone would be able to have it, and it would only be on a few maps/game types- large vehicle maps, but it would last longer, maybe about 2x longer, but it can also take damage, like in the TU.

Tell me what you guys think.

I approve.

No. No AA’s. Preserve the golden triangle.

no AAs,just like Halo 3,skilled timing of power-ups(like camo, custom or overshield),and skilled timing of weapons

> no AAs,just like Halo 3,skilled timing of power-ups(like camo, custom or overshield),and skilled timing of weapons

They don’t last forever, and not everyone has them, therefore the game will still require alot more skill like before, it’s just with this idea, there’s more options (no golden triangle- I’m sorry) like jetpack, bubbleshield, armor lock, and a more useful hologram. Skilled timing would still be necessary, but not to the point of frustration. Don’t you hate it how you can’t control AC, and by the time you reach someone to kill it’s already gone (so you don’t have to camp by AC and wait for someone to show up)? I do. I think it would be neat to be able to control them, but not be permanent like in Reach where they’re like a crutch for noobs.

I agree NO AA’S!!!

I agree with most of this, this is basically the idea I had a while back.

Things I don’t agree with; there should be a lot more variety like in H3 and armor lock should never be seen again.

> No. No AA’s. Preserve the golden triangle.

This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This.

> No. No AA’s. Preserve the golden triangle.

This 100%.

So just the same powerups basically established Day 1 throughout all the next Halo games for another 10 years or so?

AAs kinda ruined the bumper jumper controls since AAs where such a huge part of the gameplay. Have you ever tried using the jetpack when you have to hold x to use it? It’s a complete mess.
Your idea isnt bad, but it still makes the AAs a big part of the gameplay. And IMO Halo 4 should stay with the golden triangle and add small gameplay tweaks(like equipments) while not messing up the triangle.

Well, with my idea you would still use the left bumper, which I didn’t see too much of a problem with, and with my idea you wouldn’t use them near as much.
