Idea for duel weilding in Halo Infinite

I love duel weilding but there are obviously balancing issues that come with it, but I have an idea to resolve it!
Forge is the solution, now hear me out, using its advaced forge ui 343 can add an option where the player could enable duel weilding on almost any weapon, but its disabled by default. This idea would allow more casual play for the forgers and oppertunities to emulate Halo 3 or 2 maps or it would just be cool, this would also allow for things to be used by the player such as the jackel sheild and the elite sheild from one of the classic HCE trailers.

Do you think this would be a great addition or do you think you have a better idea or just hate it and think its just dumb idea? But of course before you say “theres other problems to solve” yes but this is for after those problems have been resolved.

I’d say it would make it a really quick TTK and it would basically whoever got first shot off. I’d play it but I’d expect a lot of deaths.

I could only imagine dual wielding the pistol now… oh how fast it would take to eliminate opponents. I like the idea, but I think that Infinite runs just dandy the way that it is.

Someone suggested to make it like a powerup. Like Damage boost. So it’s limited and you don’t have to rebalance weapons.

You want the thing that made halo 2 and 3 unplayable on default settings?

No, I said the default is disabled.

Thats why it should be a forge feature and when it is enabled the game could auto balance it.

I’m down with the idea of like a tier II SMG whose entire premise is dual wielding. Could even be the original SMGs for that.

Unplayable? Sounds like you never even experienced Halo 2 and 3 with that rubbish haha.

Halo 2 and 3 were only playable with MLG settings.

  • You can only duel weild two of the same weapon
  • You need to drop all your grenades ( drop completely ) to duel wield the weapons
  • You can store the duel wielded gun with whatever you have as a secondary

Then duel wielding might be considered fair enough to re-implement in.

I think keeping grenades is okay but you literally can’t have any other weapon. The two you are dual wielding is it, so you can switch weapons but all it does is put one away so you can use grenades. Powerful but most likely very limited depending on what weapons you can actually dual wield. Also reloading should be pretty slow, I mean it would be seriously awkward to do.

The other big problem with this is they have to both fire from the same trigger because the whole game is set around only having one fire button and people have remapped their grenade button to various places that might not work well as a fire button for a second weapon.

Halo 2 and 3 were both hot garbage on default settings.

I think this is a great idea and would love to see it implemented into Halo Infinite!

It’s pretty crazy from any logical perspective though. Is the power up magically a duplicate of the weapon you’re already holding, along with some sort of drug that gives extra dexterity that both wear off at the same time?

I know we put aside logic for gameplay when necessary and the whole world is fictional but this seems to push it too far.

343i gave us the tools to give us rocket bullets when using any weapon that fires. This is a step closer in the sense of being able to “mod” in game. This has lead to some crazy fun game modes. Simply look at escalation slayer with how your weapons automatically get changed based on the score. This idea definitely isn’t that far fetched from it.

True. There’s plenty of crazy things from a logic perspective but the worst of it is limited to certain less serious game modes. You could easily do the same with this idea.
