I have come up with an idea for a new character that I may include in a story I am currently writing. I wanted to fact check and see if it was possible.
Here goes…
So we know that many Spartan IIs washed out of the program after augmentation went wrong. However we also know that some of them (e.g. captain Osman from Glasslands) returned to health and even active duty. With that in mind I had the thought, could a washed out Spartan II later become a Spartan IV. If this were possible I believe that it would be a really cool character to see in either a future game or novel.
I am aware that the Spartan IIs are a few years older than the IVs but the IVs to have a wide variety of ages so it may still make sense.
Anyway, what do you think? Could it work? If not, why not?

Ex; All of Red Team from Halo Wars/2 are washouts who were rehabilitated and put back into the field. Obviously they’re still as effective as most S-IIs so…
Other than that? Yeah, I dont see why not. Though it would depend on how exactly they washed out.

Didn’t know that about red team.
With regards to your comment about a wash out still being a spartan 2, I disagree, a washout would have never completed the program and we’re thus surely never true spartan 2s. However they would have completed the spartan 4 program.

Oh you mean a washout like Osman then. Theoretically yes, that could work, considering Buck was augmented and he’s at least 40, 50.

That could make for some interesting storytelling. I’m guessing your hypothetical SII/SIV would have a similar disposition as Osman toward Halsey and the SII program, even while kinda sorta technically being one of them.

Maybe, although I don’t want him/her to be a carbon copy of Osman.

A lot of Osmans anger probably came from being with ONI so
