Idea: Flood Survival Mode

Ok I know 343 Studios may not be taking ideas now but the rest of you might like this what if Halo 4 had a flood survival mode where you fight wave after wave of flood and each wave they get stronger. Now most of will probaly say oh that’s a rip off off Horde mode on Gears or -Yoink!- Zombies on CoD well guess what it wouldn’t. Because it has nothing to do with Locust or Zombies. It has a parasitic alien so no it’s not a rip off. And some of you will also say the flood has been wiped out they can’t come back but what if you play on the old halo maps that had flood on them like a blast from the past. And I know it might take longer for Halo4 to made but who cares longer is better right. So im gonna take a poll so vote yes for Survival or no if you dont want it.

Its pretty much firefight with Flood. Though they said firefight isn’t coming back in H4. Sorry :frowning:

nice idea though and welcome to the community.

oops double post

Sounds fun, but 343 confirmed a while back that Flood nor Firefight will be in Halo 4. Sorry, dreams get crushed every day.

-Yoink!- zombies is an amazingly fun game but I’m not sure that Halo has a big enough weapon sandbox to support it properly.

Flood Combat Forms when infected in Infection would work just really good for me.

Floodfight would be amazing though. if it worked like Firefight:
Wave 1: Infection Forms and Human Combat Forms without weapons
Waves 2-4: many different Flood could appear (Infection Forms, Combat Forms, Carrier Forms, Pure Forms, Halo Wars’ Forms, and more)
Wave 5: Thrashers (or a Precursor; remember, Wave 5 is a “Boss Wave”, so think Flood boss forms)

I know it’s confirmed that Flood will not be in Campaign, but I’ve got my fingers crossed for Spartan Ops.

No your not going to fight the flood at all in halo 4. But it’s unlikey they would be on requinm because there are so many promeanthans and they were desighed to fight and destory the flood.

It can be done on The Covenant but it takes forever and can get too overwhelming on higher difficulties.

Third tower: key is to not spawn Arbiter, by destroying only the AA Wraith on the right of the tower to spawn 3 Elites. Kill all Brutes with Hornet machine gun. Move their bodies into the tower. Move all weapons away from the dead bodies. You can ignore the Hunters if you want them to fight the Flood. Activate the elevator without going through the door to get the Brutes to link up with the Hunters. Kill your Elites, then kill the Brutes, move their dead bodies with the others. When you come down from the elevator, lure the 2 Carrier Forms towards you, shoot them down when there’s no combat forms near them and get the heck out of there. If you’re lucky, you may get a checkpoint by killing the Hunters. Another way to get a checkpoint is to spawn the Drones and kill them.

Bridge: Too much elaboration required. I might start up H3 just to get a video of it’s potential.

OT: Flood survival mode would be great. Far more convenient.

i like this -Yoink!-. obviously it isnt happening in H4, but in H5 or 6 it would be quite a fun mode. How about takeing it a step further?

In the later waves, how about flood controlling vehicles? and also, each wave have them crashing into the map on stollen dropships?

lol yeah that would be cool. Or maybe if a player dies the flood can infect their body and you’ll have to fight flood spartans! That would be cool but im pretty sure the armor protects them from the flood getting into their suit.

yeah but without their energy sheild they still could infect a spartan. Flood Survival mode would actually be an awsome game mode.

Incorporate it into the game similar to firefight, but insted of haveing waves, make check points. And each check point the flood presance gets stronger and stronger. Harder flood aponents, and eventually flood controlled vehicles. Each check point, spawns different weapons etc…

I find it interesting that Frank said that you wont be fighting flood in halo 4. Could this mean the flood show up at the end of the game for a cliffhanger ending?
On topic, id like this in halo 5, but I dont want to wait a several extra months for it in halo 4.

I would personally love a flood survival mode. Zombies is probably the only reason why i went for COD and why i play it. Survival modes are only fun if the enemies only melee, then you get to camp and -Yoink- your pants when you turn around and see one attacking you. So if there was a flood survival mode, i dont want any gun for the enemy. Look at MW3 Survival and firefight, those modes got frustrating and boring fairly quickly and the concept was short lived. Thats because IMO the enemies can shoot.

I would live to buy power weapons of a wall or something, extra nades and AAs. Though Halo variety of weapons isnt really big enough, but its still possible. I was on the Halo Wiki yesterday, and saw that the creater of Zombies from Treyarch is now working for 343. That mode would be a surprise mode that hasnt been announced.

You can encounter ANYTHING in Spartan Ops. They haven’t made half the missions. You could be defending a Mammoth in the middle of the desert, to fighting a tight battle in space with a UNSC frigate.

They can add ANYTHING they want, even if they only think of it now. There’s so many possibilities for spartan ops. That’s why I love it so much. People have got to understand this gamemode’s potential.

they do have Flood Dispersal Pods (remember level Halo in Halo 3), that could very much work. for vehicles, I can’t see why not, but wouldn’t seem as… scary. Floodfight, like the way I mentioned it, would be awesome for H5 and/or 6, I’d love it/playing the Yoink! out of it!

If the flood are even in Halo4, then this should be apart of Spartan Ops.

I thought Spartan Ops was getting its name changed, is that still happening?

Both flood and firefight have unfortunately been canned for H4.
The game is pretty much gone gold so there is not much to do.

With that being said, I completely agree with OP, And I would really like to see a flood survival mode, in Halo 5. The flood has been an integral part of halo and it is too much an original idea to exclude. It would only make sense to re-animate the flood in later installments, because of their unique relationship to the precursor.

I made a mock level-design a while back, having wished for a flood survival mode since before H3.

Link.

If this idea was ever going to happen, it should be as difficult as the waves and objectives of Exterminatus on Warhammer 40 000 Space Marine.

i’m sure at one point there was a wiff that a game type called floodrun was in the game but that now seams just a dream…
