I try not to join the “I hate 343i” bandwagon for any reason because to me Halo is Halo and I just want to spitball ideas honestly.
I’m also posting this because I’m procrastinating my Level Design assignment for uni, so please don’t get up in arms if anyone has made a similar post.
-Community Map Playlist-
Everyone seems to be getting up in arms about 343i and the one or two social game modes that they have available each week. I personally wish there were more game modes at the same time but I’m assuming they don’t want to thin out the numbers in each game mode?
Now that forge and custom games are pretty much in the full swing of it now, there could easily be a Community Map Playlist (which I know people have been requesting). 343i could green light 3 or 5 maps and/or custom game modes that are the most popular and fully functional (minimal bugs) on the file browser to incorporate into the playlist that goes into the rotation for a “Community Playlist” in that fortnight. Players could ‘pause’ their game and bookmark the gamemode/map to their file share to keep for when the rotation updates. Alternatively player can submit their creation to 343i for a chance for it to be added to the playlist.
-Party Browser-
Sometimes I just want to find a group of like minded players to go into Arena or Warzone to do who knows what and other times I don’t want to play Arena or Warzone because they’re both rather serious in their own way and I just want to muck around and have a laugh with others.
What if Halo 5 or beyond had a Party Browser similar to that of a MMO such as Guild Wars or WoW? You could Host or Search for parties.
The host would set preferences for the Game Type (Custom, Warzone, Arena(Gamemode), Forge, Any), Party Limit(An integer or Any), Player Type (Hardcore, Casual, Any), Location (Any, Oceanic, NA, Europe, etc.).
The player could search for a party via a browse or quick search. Browse would bring up a list of hosts that the player can filter (Player Type, Party Size (example: 3+ players), Game Type and Location). Quick Search would have the same presets that Browse lets the player filter but instead of browsing, it would put a player in the party as soon as possible.
As a Game Design student I know something isn’t as simple as “I want this here” and it is magically in the game, it takes heaps of work and debugging sometimes but I’d love to see it in Halo 5 in some form or another. Does anyone else have any ideas they think would be simple but cool to have in Halo 5 anyway?
