Imagine if when you start the game in 343 style armour, then eventually as the story progresses you reach a room full of outfits and you can choose what chief looks like.
-MK V (Classic CE Armour
-MK VI GEN 1 (Halo 3 Armour)
-MK VI GEN 2 (343 Chief)
-MK VI GEN 3 (Infinite Chief)
And then just for fun: -1999 Chief (Halo 1 reveal)
-MK IV (Halo Wars style)
It’s definitely not canonical but it would be a cool feature nonetheless

Ah like how doom eternal has where you can choice the outfit to play in the campaign, where there is defualt, classic doom guy look etc?

Exactly like that
It’s a fun idea, certainly. I’d rep the Halo 3 battle damaged Mk VI always.
However, I do have my doubts that they’ll implement something like this. 343i has shown in multiple ways that they’ve got some serious sticking points over canon/fun factor decisions. Pretty much ever since they tried to explain RvB matchmaking in-lore as War Games, I feel like their commitment to trying to unify single and multi-player under the roof of a single canon has been more of a detriment than a benefit for the sheer fun of the multi-player modes especially.
Here’s hoping they loosen up on this attitude at least somewhat. Ideas like yours here are certainly fun and would be taken advantage of and loved by many fans.

It seems more likely given the whole “ten year plan”, if they want to keep adding new content then an idea like this that would previously be pretty much impossible has a slither of hope. The ten year thing definitely opens up what they can do
That’s funny; I thought the same thing not long ago.
This would be a great reward for exploration/achievements/completing legendary campaign.
