[IDEA] 3 UNSC Aircraft for Halo 5

Hey everyone. I’ve been thinking about new UNSC flying vehicles that would make a great addition to gameplay. I have drew some concept art of the vehicles, however I am not complete and will add them in later. Let me start off with the smallest.

Kestrel:
ONI VTOL (Kestrel)
This vehicle was first introduced to us as a Mega Bloks set, which was later proved canon. Today as of writing this, this VTOL was revealed to be the Kestrel, and featured in the new game Spartan Strike. Let’s take a look at its features. This vehicle would serve as a small aircraft for infantry.

  • One pilot- Two heavy machine guns- Represents a Ghost in design and functionality
    Falcon Gen 2:
    UNSC UH-154 (Falcon)
This would be an updated and modified Falcon that we knew during the Reach era in 2552. The new version would allow for the pilot to have a weapon, and more people on board. This would serve as a medium-sized aircraft designed for transport/supportive roles.
  • One pilot- Four passengers- One light machine gun (Pilot)- Two heavy machine guns (Passengers)- Passengers can choose to arm turret, or use weapon
    Hawk:
    UNSC AV-23 (Sparrowhawk)
The final vehicle is the Sparrowhawk. This was first introduced in Halo Wars, and while that version was the AV-22, this is he AV-23, meaning this one has an updated model. This vehicle would be large and would be able to take down a Phantom if used correctly. This is a large aircraft that would be present in 8v8, or even better with 16v16 matches. This is the “tank of the skies”.
  • One pilot- One gunner- Two machine guns (Gunner)- One modified Spartan Laser cannon (Gunner)- No passengers- High health and firepower, but can be destroyed if boarded or shot in rear

So that is my list of UNSC aircraft I believe should be added to Halo 5. I will be adding my concept sketches to this thread later, so stay tuned. Also, I will be creating another thread about Covenant aircraft that would counteract these vehicles. Thanks for the support!

id love to see the sparrowhawk, but idk that there is a need for it if the hornet is already returning for h2a.

I’d love to see more offensive types of vehicles for campaign and more transport types for multiplayer.

It’s a good idea

This is very interesting, particularly with the recent bulletin on UNSC air vehicles. (Can’t find it now, sorry.) Apparently, the Falcon is still in use, and the Vulture is being looked at for being updated with new materials and tech, then rolled back out. I never liked the Hornet, TBH. I’d love to see the Falcon again.

I don’t like the Falcon, there’s too many seats which means if a team loads up on it they could potentially give the enemy team a free killtacular. Either limit it to three seats or don’t bother with it at all. Also, giving the Falcon pilot a gun defeats the whole purpose of having side gunners, because the pilot is just going to orient himself towards enemies for all the kills and leave the gunners with bad angles. Again, either loose the pilot controlled gun, or don’t bother bringing the Falcon back.

Replace the Hawk with the Hornet. If you think 343 is going to mount a Spartan laser on a flying vehicle for multiplayer, you’re kidding yourself. The Hornet is a very popular vehicle and we know it can work in multiplayer. It’s also coming back for H2A, so 343 has probably rebalanced all the issues it had in the past.

The Hornet was replaced by the Falcon in my thread. It isn’t good to have two medium-sized air vehicles in the same class. The Falcon was supposed to be like the Hornet, with a machine gun to shoot, and instead of missiles it has two side gunners.
And the Hawk would have to be tweaked, but it would be a very fun vehicle in matchmaking with large maps.

Happy that the Hornet is back for H2A so fingers crossed it returnes for Halo 5!

I would love to shoot a falcon down with 7 people in it. I’m in favor of more aerial combat but personally I think it’d make more sense for for the larger aircraft to have more spots for players. Especially if it would be used in a theoretical 16v16 game mode.

Those all sound like they could potentially be overpowered, but I like the ideas.

I like the idea. I would love to see the hornet make a return, but I understand how your version of the falcon replaces it.

I would think it would be great if the pelican came in the BEGINNING to drop the team off. The pilot and gunner are randomly chosen and they would have to “duke it out” with the other pelican. And destroy it then the last one standing has to return to “infinity” of “the base” but it would’nt count as a kill if when they respawned of the field. Remember this is my opinion please don’t rant about it… cause we some people will… or at least want to.
