Id rather play for unlockables than a number.

I would rather work hard and rank up and play a game with people of similar skill and go back to the War Games lobby with some sense of accomplishment then to just to get a stupid number that may not mean a damn thing to me or many people. I’d rather rank up and get weapons and etc then a -Yoink!- UGLY NUMBER.

> I would rather work hard and rank up and play a game with people of similar skill

Sounds like you want a Ranking System.

A single digit number would be ‘ugly’ to me too.

Imagine saying that 5 years ago on B.net. Guess what game you would have been told to go play.

I’m not hating. I understand what you’re saying and all. I just think its funny how times have changed.

I don’t need one to rank up though.

Good point. All these pesky pixels that everyone is worrying so much about. Let’s remove armor while we’re at it. Let’s go back to CE: pick a FFA color and that’s it. Pixels have literally (literally) no effect at all on a player’s enjoyment in any way you can imagine. Ever.

played cod and u can have both

Meh, I wouldn’t hate on the armor. I like having my own distinct spartan

Nope, You just need to participate. THIS IS AWESOME!!! I get a gold star for attendance. YES!!! No feelings hurt, and I still rank up from Team Killing for Rockets!

The ignorance in this statement is astounding. You, sir, are completely confused. I’m sorry for your loss.

Ha. That’s an understatement…

Then play social.

I’d rather have a 1-50 ranking system than the progression system, all amour mods, weapon skins, player abilities, and whatever else you get with time played as opposed to games won.
I don’t care about visual upgrades anywhere near as much as a true ranking system that I have to EARN by WINNING and not being selfish, and I certainly don’t care for things like specializations that only further separate a balanced playing field, and introduce more randomness.

I can live with out the dress up portion of the game.

congratulations, you can do that even if they implemented a visible numbered ranking system. So please dont complaining about nothing.

You op have no life working and playing that much to earn something everybody can achieve some damn armor

The entire idea of a skill-based ranking system is to play matches of similar skill! What don’t you understand about that!? Why can’t you just say, “Okay, you can have it.”?!

Having a skill-based ranking system affects you in NO WAY, aside from pulling some players from the Social playlists and putting them into Ranked playlists.

But no, we don’t get that. We get lumped together.

The sense of accomplishment you speak of is arbitrary and variable from person to person. I could just as easily say: “I would rather win a ranked match against people of my skill level and gain a sense of accomplishment as my rank goes up because I’m being rewarded for playing well than get stuck in another match with complete idiots on my team and blind kids on the other team.”

What I described above is the difference between Halo 3 and Halo Reach. 99 out of 100 matches in Halo Reach, I get stuck with players who have no thumbs, who are blind, who don’t understand the tactic of not rushing forward every time with the AR, etc.

This isn’t fun! What don’t you understand about this?!

then you can do so, its optional, no one would make you play it, although you would find yourself playing it eventually. I dont get why all you people are hating on a system that is optional?

The people like OP who are against having a visible rank should have absolutely nothing to complain about. The so called “whiners” that are asking for some sort of ranking system have lost a valuable incentive to play Halo. Whether you feel like that or not, everyone has their own reason for playing the game and a lot of people were counting on 343 to at least implement a new system. But we got nothing. While nothing changed for people who don’t care for a visible rank, almost everything matchmaking wise has been flipped upsidedown for those who did want a visible rank.

Like a lot of other people have said in other threads, how would people feel about progression ranks being invisible? I bet you the people who enjoy having a progression rank would be just as PO as the people who are PO right now. Just because you didn’t want something doesn’t give you the right to bash those who did.
