I'd like for there to be a new rule please

So I’ve been on these forums for a while, since Halo Reach in fact. I always look at forums as a way for people to meet others of the same interests, and as a way for people to help each other out.

So in a certain thread (Which shall remain nameless/linkless) there were a few low ranked players making a blatantly false statement about how useful something(Which shall remain nameless) actually is.

Now it is my own fault for casting my pearls before swine (Honestly I should know better by now), but seeing as how I’m a 50 CSR in BTB with a Slayer KD of 2.25, I figured I’d explain to these people that certain things which SEEM good to lower tier players, actually aren’t that good once you start to advance.

Then multiple lower tier players jumped in and started talking about how wrong I was, and how good this certain thing was. There was even a player with 1 CSR and a 0.4 KD talking about how much of a game changer it was.

Again, no names shall be named.

That being said, would it be too much to ask for a “If your KD is lower than 1.5, and your CSR is lower than 40, please understand that you don’t know what you’re talking about and don’t argue with the better players who are taking their time to try to help you” rule?

I mean hell, I’m a 50 CSR with a KD 5 times higher than that guy, but I’m just an -Yoink- who doesn’t know what I’m talking about right?

I try to follow the rules, and I get that I’m not supposed to just flat out tell somebody “I would be deeply appreciative if you would refrain from speaking. you stupid newb, your KD is 0.8 you have no business correcting anybody”, but honestly there is some pretty bad “Conventional wisdom” being thrown around by the lower tier players, and the other people who actually want to improve are picking up the bad habits of the people who don’t know what they’re talking about.

Can we get even a slight variation to the existing rules, or do SOMETHING to counteract this disinformation? If the mods tell me “There is nothing we can do, just let the newbs spread bad info”, then I’ll respect that and drop this issue.

I would ask; however, that we take just a moment to consider changing existing policy for the benefit of the players who are actually here to learn something.

Thank you for your consideration.

This will end well.

But what do I know I only have a 1.45 kd ratio

Or, maybe some people enjoy playing the game a different way from the way you’re playing it…

Meh, close enough, rounding is fine. Also your Slayer KD is 1.49 so I wouldn’t automatically dismiss what you said.

> Or, maybe some people enjoy playing the game a different way from the way you’re playing it…

That’s fine but they shouldn’t spread disinformation around to the other players who are actually here to learn.

I would read this thread, but unfortunately you do not meet my arbitrary selection criteria.

Seeing as how the rule you propose is basically a protracted way of encouraging stat-flaming, which is already against the rules, I’m going to go with “No”.

I’d like to add something real quick:

> Can we get even a slight variation to the existing rules, or do SOMETHING to counteract this disinformation?

There is indeed something you can do: present a logical and well-reasoned counterargument to disprove what you believe to be misinformation. The benefit to that is that instead of telling someone “No, you’re wrong and your K/D is low, so you’re not allowed to post,” you can attempt to teach that individual more about how Halo works. Even if that specific person doesn’t listen, others that are watching or lurking in the thread could learn a lot from explanations that you have the opportunity to provide.

Hell, I learned almost everything I know about competitive play by watching skilled players actually explain things; the ones that simply dismissed others based on stat-based elitism completely and totally failed to teach anyone anything.
