343 seems to be doing a good amount of things that seem like they are sort of like throwbacks to the older halos or just good ideas. They didn’t try to change the design of Halo wars 2 to their newer style. Something else I just realized is that if you compare halo 5’s ending to halo reach’s ending and halo ce’s beginning, they are very similar. I’m reach/ce the pillar of autumn has to make a random slip space jump to escape the covenant on reach. In halo 5, Cortana’s guardian appears above earth and the infinity has to escape with random slip space jumps. Also, in the legendary ending we see a halo ring with Cortana humming. We haven’t been on a halo ring since halo 3 so I am happy we will be going back to one
Throwbacks in the sense that they’re inspired by events in the campaigns in older Halos. I think everyone would prefer that this would apply to multiplayer rather than campaign, however.

The M739’s barrel is longer and heavier, meaning it can sustain fire longer and more accurately than the MA5B. The MA5B, while powerful in close quarters, would likely be unable to provide adequate supporting fire at long ranges.

The M739 is also better cooled (so the barrel doesnt melt under constant fire) has a larger magazine (not by much yes, but enough), and the entire weapon is much heavier, ensuring that recoil is less of an issue than with the MA5B. As anyone who’s fired the 5B can tell you, it is NOT accurate at anything over near-CQB range. Its less an AR than an SMG to be honest, a literal bullet hose. The 739 on the other hand is more than capable of dropping a target from a good distance away.
I hope wars 2 is a signal that 6 will embrace the classic designs, even the reqs adding older designs and the community liking them is proof it would only help sales. I really dislike the new elites and grunts I admit the new jackels are cool if a little strange seeming how drastic the change was and hunters still look epic. I miss brute and bugs tho and I hope crawlers can you know crawl on things like in 4 they suck in 5 but maybe they had issues with pathfinding and thats why they are on the ground. but ya interesting lets hope we see a better visual and narrative continuity cause reach to 4 and 4 to 5 was just silly

The SAW is, as its intended to be, a designated non-CSW typically used in bipod-steadied positions (sigh), that fills a small area with a large volume of accurate firepower without a significant drop in accuracy or weapon/barrel condition in relation to prolonged fire.
The M739 does a darn good job of this by fulfilling certain requirements that the MA5B was not really intended to be used for, including greater accuracy (the MA5B was a bullet hose with a very short barrel), stability (the stupid high ROF and unstable firing position of the MA5B make it near impossible to hit anything that isn’t in front of you. Though other concerns include the actual physical harm it’ll do to the guy who was stupid enough to be firing a rifle loaded with 7.62x51mm on auto anyway) and firepower through larger magazines (the MA5B is technically unfeasible once you consider the limited space in its magazines and the awkward weight and balance associated with having sixty cartidges in the mag. Holy smokes! Hence why every weapon following the MA5B is typically loaded with an average of 32 cartridges - which is still kind of hard to believe), etc.
Though the more promising aspects are actually related to the enhanced abilities of an augmented Forward Deployed Operator, who is not held back by the constraints of normal human physiology or considerable sacrifices in mobility (courtesy of Powered Exoskeletons).and allows for the ability to introduce certain advantages (more ammo, capable of handling recoil, etc) in prolonged engagements against more technologically superior opponents (physics is still in play after all, you don’t even need to knock down the shields of Covenant troops to kill them - blunt force trauma does not discriminate) with heavier weaponry.

Just to add to what was said above. If we take the game aspect out of it and looked at it as a LMG, the SAW would firstly have a much larger magazine. A 150-250 round box or drum magazine more than likely when you include future miniaturization. That combined with its large stock and body to hold the heavy mechanisms would tick the high R.O.F box.
A nice throwback for both game a lore fans would be bringing more of the old game and books vehicles into war zone.
Let’s get the halo reach styled rocket hog in a matte grey and black, improve the handling, let it fire 8 rockets instead of 6 and link it to Chief Mendez own was described in the book.
Or Halo CE assault rifle, equipping it means you can’t sprint but your shields are tougher, you got the 60 round magazine and it shreds what ever it’s fired at.
Bringing back the Halo 1-3 model Scorpion, that had the jumpseats on the side and the turrent mounted machine gun, faster firing main gun and over all faster speed. Tie it in saying that the UNSC brought some out of storage to cover losses incurred dealing with the Created.
Little things like these would show fans that they actually care.
