I’m still working thru Halo Infinite, but as Cortana’s story is being told via cutscenes I can’t help but feel this is the campaign we would have seen if there wasn’t such a backlash toward Halo 5: the Chief chasing Cortana across the galaxy, witnessing her siege, and culminating with an attack on Earth. That would have been an epic story to witness. And we didn’t get it.
I’m enjoying infinite a lot, but I’m sad for what could have been.
Yeah I feel like we missed out on a lot of stuff that happened.
This is literally all 343 has done with the story since they got the reigns. . . H4, H5, and Infinite have so much of their plots cut out and rushed and passed over.
I wanted to fight the created and cortana in H6, I would’ve loved to fight the banished boarding the infinity. There is so much they left out and if people don’t read the books or other media they literally have no idea what is going on. And then 343 cut out a lot from 4 and 5 that was already cannon. I’m not sure who is in charge of the story telling but they clearly don’t have a tight grip on it. IMO
I’m not on board saying it’s all their fault. The wider ‘fan’-base deserves some blame for refusing to buy in, imho.
Infinite is fantastic, but it is also a clear hesitation by 343 to pursue their original goals. What they should have done was manifest their vision, critics be -Yoink!-. The ‘fans’ are never going to be satisfied anyway. They bent the knee to the consumer and sacrificed creative vision. It’s disappointing. I’d have much preferred to see what they had envisioned.
That said, there has clearly been a mismanagement of resources throughout their three games.
It’s clear we won’t see the created story accross the games now, 343 will focus on Halo Zeta, the Banished and the Eternals, but we still have the books.
Halo the rubicon protocol will arrive in June and tell the story during the six month where John was sleeping. I hope we will learn more about how Cortana die and what that mean to the created. They are still a lot of AI and Guardians in the galaxie, I wonder why they didn’t come to Halo Zeta
