ICYMI- 343 devs are back from Thanksgiving weekend break and improving progression is their top priority

343’s Head of Design, Jerry Hook, has stated on his Twitter that 343 devs would begin immediate work on fixing the progression system after they returned from Thanksgiving weekend break today:

“Yes I am still playing Halo and feeling everyone’s pain on progression. We are back at it next week and this will be top of my list with the team.”

Honestly, I think Fiesta being removed when the Tenrai event goes away is a bigger problem than anything to do with progression, but still good to see 343 responding to feedback.

Ok thats good to hear now not to be that guy but the second main problem are the servers or rather connecting to the servers. We need to have it like the MCC and be able to filter out what servers that are not in your region. Also to be able to turn off crossplay

Yawn. All of this feedback has been around for a year during the flights. I’ll believe it when I see it.
They intentionally released a game with systems designed to frustrate and annoy you while selling RNG based solutions (challenge swaps) they deserve zero sympathy.

That’s all?

I mean the bigger Problem is the Lack of content, Shop prices, crossplay and hackers… Progression could be raised to 100xp per Match without Match Limit…

Well, it depends on what exactly they mean by fixing progression. Are they talking about just the speed, or are they talking about a larger overhaul of the system? Hopefully the latter. I think they need to add either XP for Medals or Match Score to XP conversion for starters, both would speed up progression considerably. Then they need to have another look at the challenge system, there are still some weekly challenges in the randomized pool that are much too difficult and pretty much have to be challenge swapped, those need to be removed from the randomization pool. Then they need to look into some in-game method for earning credits at a decent rate, not so slow that it’s pointless, but not so fast that it gives people no reason to spend real money on store items, something like 5 credits per daily and 10-20 per weekly challenge would probably work. Long term they have said that they plan to add a separate career progression system in addition to the battlepass one.

I agree they need to work on pricing, $20 for a full armor set is totally ridiculous, all store pricing needs to be reduced by at least 60% imo, which would bring the full armor sets down to $8 and the cheaper store bundles down even lower. I also agree they need to add option to disable crossplay to all playlists. As for lack of content, I would assume they will have some more playlists and the 3 missing datamined maps on the official December 8 launch, hopefully anyway.

It’s nice to see a dev also frustrated with progression.

Its always a good sign when devs play their own games and feel the same issues we do.

I’m hoping that ‘Next week’ is ‘this week’ sometimes the day itself dictates which people use and I’m never sure which is which :joy:

He meant this week, yeah. He posted it yesterday. Devs took Thanksgiving weekend off to recuperate from all of the pre-launch crunch they have already done. They should be back in to work working on progression as we speak since he said it is top priority for his team.

Fiesta is single handedly the worst gamemode to come out of Halo.

But the thing is, haven’t they had weeks of playing the game if not months of testing that should’ve alerted them to “feel (at least some of) the same issues we do”? I’m glad if they really are noticing and feeling the frustration but still.

Thats fair. But it does seem like some people are rushing to conclusions just a few weeks in. I have waited this long I can wait a bit longer as long as they do right by us in the end. I was bummed when they first delayed Infinite a year but my experience in the first flight made me feel like it was worth it.

Yes, but unfortunately in a lot of industries (especially programming) sometimes the only option is to push a ‘v1’ and follow up with a ‘v2’ later. Even when following agile practices its entirely possible for requriements to change and so compromises are made in areas that hopefully the studio then returns to and polishes. It’s when the developers choose not to revisit that a real showstopper occurs.

Yep.

Actions not words, please. They had an extra year and this is what they released to the public? They need to stop lying and actually do something positive for a change rather than screwing their customers… again.

fiesta can be played in customs, we dont need a whole event for something a small amount of people enjoy.

As much as it pains me to say this because I love this franchise…

But I will believe it when I see it. And then I will spend money.

Fiesta is actually very popular. It should be a permanent playlist.

It definitely should along with SWAT, infection and all the other fan favorite modes. Instead we now have timegating of popular modes.

Honestly at this point I care more about just having more playlists than I do about a progression system tied to a battlepass that I will never purchase.
