I would really like some questions answered..

I have so many questions about Halo 5.

Just mostly, why?

When I played this game and beat it in the same day, I not only disappointed by what I got, I’m wondering how this managed to even get released with all the mistakes. Firstly, why did you tease us with a cut scene (Halo 2 Anniversary) that wasn’t even remotely close to the actual game (and was cooler)?
It honestly, is confusing.
This cut scene with Spartan Locke was not only cooler, but it was more mysterious, and was great for a teaser. I could understand not using it because Locke’s team is completely different in that cut scene.
Secondly, why was the build up so much not like the release? And knowing the advertising, why did it appear like the PR team had Alzheimers?
It appears like the PR team assigned to Halo 5 not only forgot about the game but they didn’t even bother to nail the teaser cut scenes with the actual game (which I will approach in the final question).
Thirdly, why all the clearly not accurate lies?
Why was split-screen removed from the game when your game engine is made to run only on 60 fps?
Why was the requisition system in the game period? If you made an awesome game, you would have made enough money on its own.
And finally,
Why does the game feel like it was rushed out the door?
This game didn’t even have achievements for getting all the hidden items in the campaign. Why does the campaign feel short and meaningless at the end (especially seeing Halo 4’s ending, which in my personal opinion Cortana should have just stayed dead. Just thinking about the Chief’s personal journey with mourning Cortana would have been a lot more impactful)? Why could I be done with Halo 5 within a day and never have to play it again because the experience is now like every other shooter on the face of the planet?

I must remind you,
THIS IS HALO.

In Halo, you make it great. You make it epic. You make it awesome. You don’t settle for deadlines because its a deadline. You release it when the job’s done. (Not gonna lie though, the music kicked -Yoink-. Keep up the good work there).

These are all legit questions. I would love to hear an answer from someone about how and why this happened? I am honestly just looking for an answer. I am a long time fan of the Halo series, still play, and, unlike most original fans, enjoyed Halo 4.

Thank you.

Hey Demonlord343,
A lot of people were unhappy with the campaign for many reasons. In a nutshell, most them amounted to the game being different from what they expected it to be. However, I don’t think that should take away from Halo 5 being a great game overall. To quote myself from another post, Halo 5 is the first installment of the franchise in which combat feels “evolved.”

As far as the PR, I think it 343 wanted to play on the idea of ONI misinformation, but it wasn’t executed in a way that connected to the campaign. I think the game would’ve been much more complete if it was supplemented by Spartan Ops episodes, possibly episodes that fill in the gaps about the formation of Osiris and the missions of Blue Team prior to Halo 5.

343, if you’re out there listening in forum space, it’s not too late to give us this content. It’s wanted–it’s needed!!

Content… I think a well executed story DLC could do great things for the future and the fan base.

So many questions, and so few answers fron 343.

More like they’ve given answers that you don’t necessarily agree with

Really haven’t heard anything yet. Where can I see them? Would be appreciated.

The aspects surrounding the story have been explained in multiple vidocs inclduing a post release statement from Frank O’Connor via time magazine as well as a sprint episode.

343 for sure was misleading about the marketing side of things but they have made an abundance of content to find most of these answers.

Even if they don’t answer every single little nitpicky question the community asks…so what? They are not obligated to do so unless it’s a vocal majority…

Thanks for your enthusiastic agreement lol.

This campaign was really disappointing and I think most people feel this way because this game’s story was essentially exposition for what hopefully will be a much better campaign in H6

I agree. The campaign did disappoint a certain segment of fans’ expectations of what they wanted to see. To me, however, that doesn’t mean 343 delivered us a bad game. 343 gave us a swift moving, action filled, whirlwind-esque campaign that may not have gone as deep narrative wise as we’ve been accustomed to in Halo games, but told the story it needed to set up whatever follows in Halo 6. And many things can follow as there are many things in play at the close of Halo 5’s campaign.

If you consider all the the Halo campaigns featuring Master Chief, there are only two in my opinion that told great narratives: Halo: CE and Halo 2. Halo 3 was pretty much about finishing the fight, but Halo 4 gets an honorable mention, because its story began to develop Master Chief’s character beyond his occasional and usually forgettable one-liners. Plus, the backstory provided by the terminals was amazing.

On second thought, I do consider Halo 4’s plot to be among the “great” narratives of the franchise.
