I would love Halo 2 on XB1

Halo 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, naturally it’s multiplayer kept me satisfried for years.

It was a sad day when the Original Xbox servers were shut down, and H2 XBL multiplayer ceased to exist.

One can only hope that some day, Halo 2 follows the footsteps of the Halo 1 Anniversary title. And some day, Halo 3 after that. And Halo 4 anniversary as well, which we will play from our virtual reality tubes.

One can only hope for H2A bro…

One can only hope…

I’d rather have a sequel to ODST or halo wars than getting to play the same halo game, it would be nice but experiencing new stories is still nicer than relieving old ones

False, Halo 2 memories are best memories

The nostalgia is strong in this one lol.

Nah the best memories were in halo 3 my hours spent in custom games having a laugh with friends and making new ones. Play with 3 friends online campaign and the multiplayer was much more fun and competitive since they fixed all the issue halo 2 had

If such a thing should happen, I wonder how the multiplayer would work. It definitely can’t be based around Halo 4 considering there’s no Dual Wielding. The main reason 343i said they didn’t include a full-on remade CE multiplayer for CEA was that Halo CE didn’t have net code and that they would have to tear it apart in order to build it back up for online play. Halo 2 DID have net code, which opens up the possibility that they will remake the exact same multiplayer experience. The second reason 343i stated that they didn’t remake the CE multiplayer is that the game would entirely split the population. In Halo Reach, that was a legitimate problem as the game still managed to cap a good 60,000 players, but with Halo 4 the population is so flimsy that a new game (even a remake and certainly a Halo 2 remake) would overtake Halo 4 rather quickly, and become the center of attention.

If the actual multiplayer would be remade in this hypothetical Halo 2 remake, would they remake all my he maps or just a select few? Would they give us DLC maps or just vanilla maps? Would the game itself have DLC in the form of additional classic maps or even brand new ones set in the Halo 2 sandbox?

Either way, I am a staunch supporter for 343i to make a Halo 2 Anniversary as I don’t remember the last time I played through the campaign and because I never played the multiplayer outside of split screen (I only got Xbox Live after Halo 3). This would also give 343i a 3 year development time for Halo 5, which HAS to be a really good game on par with Halo 2 and Halo 3 if Halo is ever to get back in shape. This also opens up the possibility of a Halo 5 beta which would be impossible in a two year dev time, and it allows 343i to recapture the lost (and in many ways abandoned) Classic fans (be them Ranked or Social players).

Classic fans are the bulk of the hardcore Halo fans, and by pushing them away with Halo 4 343i let go of the bulk of the population of the game in the long term, as the hardcore are the most faithful and will play your game until the next one comes out (which is years). If Halo 4 was friendlier to Classic fans, I’m sure it could have easily gotten a good 60-80 thousand population rather than maxing out at 20.

Either way, though, I’m happy. From a story perspective I am much more looking forward to Halo 5. If that’s the game we’ll see this year, I will be very happy. I can’t wait to see what 343i can do when they build on constructive fan feedback. If Halo 2 is to be remade in time for it’s 10 year anniversary- it means more terminals (yay!), skulls (yay!), an opportunity to play Halo 2 multiplayer and a much more solid outing in Halo 5 with another year of dev time and the possibility of a beta.

I’m looking forward to E3.

Just playing the campaign again…Switching from the original graphics to the HD graphics…
