I would like to discuss a grievance

I am very frustrated right now.
I was forging along on a boxing map i was making. When, bam biff…im sent back to lobby.
Now, a little bit is my fault. I had not saved in the 3hours i had been playing. However, in my nieve mind i did not think an issue was there.
Now…why do we have to be online to forge??
Why must i suffer because 343i’s deticated server ditches me like a finicky adolescent?!
(For the record, I am very upset at myself too.)

The answer to all your questions is because 343 is the developer.

Forge is online only so the devs can plop in your map and do this;
-spawn 300 scout warthogs

  • have kill balls floating on gravity lifts
  • makes piles of plushy animals with fusion coils
    -and of course add the fine details to your map, such as kill balls.

Whoa whoa whoa…wait a second. This happened to you? Thats awesome! Well, kind of annoying. Ive got a buddy who does this all the time. He jumps in, spawns a tank, and shoots me. You’re saying 343 did this?

I definitely do not like the whole “online, all the time” approach many game companies are using now.

Is online a cool feature? Yes, definitely! But certain modes, like forge, must be offline capable in future titles.

Offline forge is way better. I definitely do forge when there are connection/latency issues.

It’s to save the Forge maps in the cloud and have none of them saved locally to any consoles, in order to not crash the cloud saving system. Probably.

If this was the case, why wouldn’t it auto save my progress. I’m all for it…if it serves me a logical purpose. If it does save to a cloud…then why can I not retrieve data from it.

I think it’s because originally Xbox one itself was going to be online only. Then plenty complained and some how before launched it was changed so you could play offline but I am betting they will just slowing make everything online only.

Do you notice when you start up Halo 5, your Rank, REQs, and appearance have to load? I’m also pretty sure it’s because of the reliance.
I’d like to see them switch server styles for Halo 6 since this is probably just as impossible a “fix” as splitscreen in Halo 5.

My Ideas for it are to host Multiplayer for Campaign, Custom Games, and Forge on Peer to Peer (as well as host player ranks, REQs, and other player stuff). Keep dedicated servers for Ranked Arena, Social Arena, and Warzone.

it’s because of the forge budget. In order to increase it they are using the cloud computing capability of the XBone to do that. If it was offline we’d be better off but we would have a much more limited forge.

my gripe with it is you need gold in order to even use it.
