I was just having a match on Complex which was all 3 options on the map select screen SMH and I quit for I kept getting killed by being ganged up on which is about as fun as it sounds.
Now I know this is a team based game but I can do fine most of the time in all the other BTB maps as a random Rambo.
Complex and Settler however are simply too tough on randoms.
I feel both maps would be greatly improved by more vehicles to break them up a bit.
light rifle = your friend on settler and complex. I used to hate settler with a passion but now I don’t mind it. I just try to stay near some cover and pick people off with the light rifle. Running around in the open and going solo = sure death
Complex and Settler would be absolutely fine if players weren’t able to spawn with mini Sniper Rifles at spawn. DMRs and LRs kill open maps and force all maps to be cramped like Exile, Abandon, and Solace.

Not really, because I rarely see anyone using the LR, and the DMR may as well have a bending bullet, the way most people use it.
No, the BR is a problem. It’s not supposed to have that range, but the burst shot has spread that is too tight, so it may as well be one bullet. That’s what kills me on those maps. That and they are repetitive to play.

I never thought the BR’s range was a problem. I’ve always had difficulty aiming it at long range–it takes me 7-8 shots to do what the DMR can do in 5.
Even if it is though, that just means that its a third weapon with too much effective range.

That and the fact it has become a staple of most players. Considering DMR and LR take some skill to use efficiently, most people dropped them in favor of the BR, because it’s the new norm.
I agree the LR could use a slight tone down in range, but that’s not the point of this thread.
What ruins those maps is the constant picking of them, because people spent time going through the entire map, just to pick up the hiding spots. That’s why they vote for these maps.
Setter is such a poorly designed map.
Settle is so bad, that I thought it was made by trey arch…
What’s next? The option to run around the map quick scoping?
> Setter is such a poorly designed map.
AMEN. Not for H4, at all.
I don’t usually have an issue with complex. Settler is just boring because it’s pretty much a constant fight over the ledge.

Unless I have a friend playing with me; Settler has become a troll map for me.
Sorry but if you see my name on that map don’t get in the warthog with me.
I will drive you off a cliff.
I only like to drive the warthog on that map as a trolls vehicle or to drive up that narrow hill and splatter everybody. If it ends in betrayals I apologize its just cool to get an overkill with a warthog by running people over in that narrow hill.
Give it a try… Makes Settler too fun.
Complex is just madness with Big Team… I agree that DMR and the like shouldn’t be available unless a pick up. Though one thing that helps with me on that map is the hardlight shield and using to mongoose to travel fast, yeah you get hit but have a better chance of surviving
I’m confused. Your reasoning for why Complex and Settler are bad maps is because you played stupidly? Going Rambo is fine, but you need to pick your fights smartly which you clearly are not doing if you are loosing battles when outnumbered. Only pick fights in which you know you can win or are forced to engage in. Don’t engage in 2v1 situations then complain about loosing. I think your problem is that the maps you “h8” are more geared towards on foot combat compared to the other maps in which you can just hop into a ghost and go rambo.
Looking at your stats you are more of a vehicle person and unfortunately more vehicles wouldn’t work on both Complex and Settler. This is because the vehicles would be redundant on a map when all combat is geared towards the buildings/ridge where getting vehicle is pretty much impossible. Also looking at your stats you have 305 DNF games… That is about a 1/3 of all games you started. You really need to work on that.

This, how some people still don’t see the main problem of halo 4 is beyond me. Open maps + long range starting weapons = boring, long range static gameplay

With the distances of these two maps it would make little difference if people had BR’s or Carbines instead. Take those away as well, people -Yoink- all day about it.
Gotta create well designed maps, that’s a core problem.
I’m fine with both maps. All I need is a DMR, some cover, and a whole lot of ammo.

so much this / and not trying to sound rude but at high level BTB play there is even less room for movement on those maps as all 16 plays have LR or DMS.
343 should have never let people spawn with those guns in MM.

Oh i agree, precision weapons dominate the maps for that specific reason.
The problem I constantly have with complex is getting spawnkilled, and the people Camping Atop the main center building. But lately I have been playing smarter, and sticking to cover when I move.(and there is plenty of cover on complex) Because of this, I have had more and more successful games. this does not work as well with settler, as it does not have as much cover. But Me and My GF get in a warthog, and, we have this routine down where I chaingun everybody effectively. lack of Vehicles is not the problem on a map so small.
I love Complex BTIS. Anything else on it (except Flood) sucks though.
As for Settler, I enjoy the ridge fights. So much close-quarter chaos! Outside of that ridge though? Hate it; Especially for CTF.
