correct me if im wrong but i think it would be a great advancement for halo to have this so the battles are allot more epic and fun now im not saying for every playlist but for something like big team not only that it would be great for clans imagine the war. And if anyone knows that this could happen or if we could convince 343 it would be cool.
I already go black screen at least 5 times per game, I’d rather not increase it to 50.
Halo games have always been about the individual players working together and having fun and feeling competitive agaisnt individuals on the other team.
Larger player counts would kinda dilute that. And it probably wouldn’t be worth the graphical trade of, unless you’re willing to pull a Battlefied 3 and waste memory on a texture pack.
i understand this but i still think it would be good and if not in matchmaking i was thinking more along the lines of custom games like when your having a competitive break and you want fun with your friends or clans
I think it’s fine as is. There are multiple playlists going from 2v2 to 8v8 and so on.
Halo isn’t Battlefield.
The shorter population coupled with the three second minimum respawn time is fine.

i would like to state that i have never played battlefield and as much as i respect your opinion i find it a blind one because it will not turn into a different game such as battlefield because its just a difference in numbers.

It will turn into a different game because of the difference in numbers.
The maps in Halo aren’t built for larger than 16 players.
Having larger maps that support 30+ players won’t feel Halo.

i said custom games if not matchmaking and also there are maps like forge world and bone-yard that could sustain the numbers

Lol. With dedicated servers you would never go to black screen unless your connection was terrible.

If the devs knew that the game would support more than 16 player I’m sure they would build maps to support the increased player count.
About “not feeling Halo”: How can you say that when you have never tried it? I have always wanted a epic, large scale battle in Halo multiplayer. Really Big Team Battle.

thank you finally someone understands
right now Halo has a max number of players set at 16, I wouldn’t mind if it jumped up to 20, but any more, and it wouldn’t feel right. Battlefield gets away with it cause Battlefield’s maps are huge, they’re so big that the smallest ones are bigger than forge world.
In Halo you can play small team battles and not feel like you’ll never run into the other team, but in Battlefield, such battles aren’t as fun.
I say Halo should keep it’s MP size.

I just think it would work and still feel like Halo at least to me. I like the one on one battles with people. I think if we added this many people a lot of that would be lost. I actually love 4v4 and 8v8. I think Halo has got that part down without a doubt. This might be fun for customs though.
that’s what im trying to say

I don’t think that it’s rather or not the Devs know or not, I do believe they’re fully aware of the fact that such a feature can be done, but rather or not Halo’s engine could support that many players at once.
But if they did add such a feature, you then get the same reaction to the feature like you get from AAs and bloom, you please some, and piss off others cause “it’s not halo” or cause “it’s moving Halo away from what it was in Halo CE”
Halo Started out as a 16 max player MP game, they’d have to slowly add more players to player cap.

Then you’d have a set of maps that solely exist for these expansive battles. Boneyard is a large map, however it serves multiple purposes and gametypes, other than BTB Slayer. If one were to have such large amounts of people on a single map, maps would need to be huge, and I doubt any developer is going to create a series of maps just for one gametype and purpose; it’d be a waste of time.
Not to mention, you’ve neglected to mention the technical implications of having so many players in one game. You have to factor in dedicated servers, a quick rotation method for players who quit, enough weapons and vehicles to go around, how to create a ample gametype to support everyone, people’s Internet connections, etc. It’s a lot more complicated than “let’s make a huge map, and let 50 vs. 50 go crazy on it!!!” It’s just not that simple.
Whether or not it’ll “feel like Halo” has yet to be determined, seeing that it’s never been implemented in a Halo game. I’m all for increasing the lobby size, perhaps to 24, but nothing more. It would be too ridiculously stupid.
