I will lose on purpose

Do not promote cheating/griefing.

For some reason, the game thinks I should be ranked Diamond in Slayer, but I definitely don’t belong in this rank.
Next season I’m losing all 10 games on purpose and I will go -15 each time. I don’t get why we don’t all just starting from the beginning.

We can’t start from the beginning because that’s exactly what ranking is supposed to avoid - sticking people of different skill sets into the same games.

But I agree, the ranking system in this is hardly accurate.

What i dont understand is how its supposed to gauge your skill level for placement when 90% of the people you play against aren’t ranked either??? WTF

>every game ends with a score of at least 50-6 to the enemy team.

I agree that the ranking system is inaccurate, I’m in the same diamond situation as you are. But you shouldn’t tell people that you’re going to purposefully play poorly to get a lower rank, that’s considered cheating.

I think the only real way to tell someone deserves to go up a rank is for them to actually rank up. This is the second time I was put in Diamond, yet most of the games I DO win and/or go positive are games where the enemy team leaves and it’s 4v2/4v1. Going up from the bottom is more accurate, so what if you get a game every once in a while that has an onyx level player? For the most part, those guys will make it to the top pretty quick anyway, so the games you play with them will only be at the start of the season.

IDGAF if it is considered “cheating” maybe I shouldn’t be ranked here in the first place. Want me to not “cheat”? Redo the rank system. Halo 2’s was just fine.

This is why I waited till end of season to rank

That’s what I did this time around. I was ranked Diamond for the preseason, but this season, me and two other friends purposely did bad for our first 10 qualifying matches and got ranked Silver, then went up a little to Gold.

I must say, matchmaking is a lot more enjoyable now. Hated having to decide between having fun and losing horribly every match or going full try hard for a chance at winning.

Heck, let me play against you next season! I’ll take those W’s.

i tanked my FFA games to see if i could hit bronze or silver, never won one, came in 4th or 5th, have a .9 kd this season

it gives me platinum

last season i was diamond when i tried

Well which is it?! Are you having an existential crisis?

But yeah, ranks aren’t great in Halo 5. I think in part due to it ranking purely on win/loss, which isn’t bad as a factor to the rank, but being more or less the sole factor is a mistake. If I’m good at a gametype I shouldn’t be placed low because I don’t have a team to play with and get paired with lousy teammates a lot. Alternatively if I stink I shouldn’t be ranked high if I happen to get a bunch of good teammates in my qualifying matches. Over ranking wouldn’t be nearly the issue it is if they’d let you drop tiers (diamond down to platinum for example). If you somehow end up diamond and don’t really deserve it, that playlist is essentially boned until next season.

Edit:
Also getting paired with teammates who are the same rank as you but are actually totally different skills wouldn’t happen as much if personal performance played more of a role in the system. Basically what I’m saying is, win/loss alone is a terrible way to assess how good a player is at a game.

Translation:
"I wanna be a big fish in a little pond and pound on lesser skilled players all day because its the only thing that helps my fragile self esteem. So now that the game places me against people I should be playing i’m gonna whine and cry like a little yoink until I get my way because that’s what the Halo community does now and 343 and their volunteers allow it. So now i’m gonna wreck others game experience because I can and there are no repercussions to my actions.

This is why the community is responsible for killing this game.

That’ll effect who you play WITH as well as who you play against. No real point.

Bring back 1-50 <3

Thats pretty selfish on your part. Deliberately being a deadweight during matches where the ranks of your teammates are tied to whether or not you win or lose the match? Go do that in FFA or something; don’t drag other gamers through the mud as well.

You sound like a smurf on Counter Strike. Can’t stand playing against those who are either as good or a little better then yourself so you will purposely lose to get placed in matches against players who are worse then you for an easy win. If you want to have a more enjoyable time in Arena then you should just get a group of friends instead of playing with randoms.

I also got ranked Diamond though I do think that’s about the right rank for me. When I’m put up against other Diamonds the games tend to be very well balanced, tight affairs, unless someone leaves (happens far too often).

My main gripe with the ranking/matchmaking is that the game seems to be insistent on putting me up against 2/3 Oynx’s every other game. If I was Diamond 5/6 I could understand (testing whether I was ready to make the step up) but this is at Diamond 2/3.At that level I’d have thought it’d be testing me against the higher/lower Diamonds.

I even had a game against one Champion with 3 Oynx’s last week. I was a little sore after that game.

Let’s face it the ranking system is a mess, but hopefully it gets better. I can only imagine how -Yoink!- arena will be on and after christmas.

“I don’t understand the rank system therefore it must be wrong and I know more than people who are paid to figure this sort of thing out.”

lol
