That just proves how broken the system is. I’ve already posted in the official bans thread about how broken the ban hammer is. It doesn’t EVER reset. You can go weeks without quitting and if you quit ONE game, your punishment is more severe because you’re a previous offender. The last time I checked, I had 2 quits in over 150 matches. I’m labeled as a “habitual quitter” because of that and can no longer quit games or I will be banned. Why should ANYONE be forced to endure the game I had to? My entire team quit on me within the first few minutes of the game. The teams were SO imbalanced and we were getting slaughtered, so I was left by my lonesome, unable to fend for myself or quit because of the awful banning system.
343 really needs to do something to fix the banhammer. It’s just not right.
I agree. The system needs to see that if I’ve played 50 games clean, my punishment start going down. its almost scary to think that over a years time, will all my out of the blue quits/boots lead to a permanent ban? Yikes
How do you know you’re labeled as a “habitual quitter?” I’ve personally quit only 2 games out of 780 arena games and lagged out of maybe a dozen and I’ve never been banned. If the servers were a little more stable I would personally like for the ban hammer to be even tighter than it already is. Quitters are a huge problem.
Normally when these posts are made, the person posting actually has a ton of quits on their record. But I’ll urge anyone to go onto my game history. You’ll see a good 60-70 games before you see my first DNF that took place on March 27th.

Yes they are a huge problem, but it’s not about being tighter. It’s already extremely tight as it is. It’s that there is no forgiveness and that is the major issue. I shouldn’t be banned for hours on end for quitting ONE game in 3+ weeks because I was banned once like 3 months ago. Once you’re on the sh*t list, this system never lets you off and it doesn’t make sense at all. As far as I know (since no one from 343 actually responds to the ban thread), I’ll never be able to quit a game ever again or I’ll be banned for it.
Not sure how it works, I have not and hope never to be banned. I don’t quit games. On the very few rare occasions I have been disconnected, those show up as DNF’s. This should be posted in the ban thread.

Interesting. I looked at your game history because it usually is someone that quits a lot and lies about it, but yours is certainly solid with only 1 quit in many many pages. I understand it’s frustrating, but I’m not sure where the answer lies with people getting lagged out so much. It can’t tell the difference between a quit and a lag out so people are getting banned that aren’t really quitters. It’s certainly a problem. I don’t have an answer, except maybe more reliable servers.
I have never been banned. I had the power go out on me three times in one day, playing Warzone. Thought I would be banned for sure, but it never happened.
Oh no your poor k/d and w/l, look quitting is quitting it doesn’t matter if you quit once or one hundred times, if you’re in a game and one person quits the amount of quits doesn’t matter to your team he still quit, he still unbalanced the team. Its like if someone stole from 5 families and another person stole from 1 family, all 6 of those families still had the same effect on them and both thieves are still thieves, 6 teams would have had the same effect on them and both quitters are still quitters. You should know the feeling when people quit on your team.
I never quit when the odds aren’t in my favor. It’s still fun; and heck, it’s a REALLY unique experience. I remember one time I was the only person left on BtB on the Master Chief Collection, in Halo 3, on Avalanche. 1v8.
It was SUCH a fun and incentivizing experience that I just HAD to record it and upload it to youtube. [ Here, if you’re wondering ; This is my favorite moment ] It was very cinematic. It makes me wish they had some form of mode that was 4v1, or 8v1, because at this point, the gameplay changes from even-matching, to trying to play using ‘guerilla’ tactics; sneaking around, using power weapons whenever possible, etc.
I think that they should add in a ban rep system, for every quit/leave you should have 5 or 10 “bad rep points”, for every game you stay in or finish you should get -1 “bad rep points”, after 10, 15 or 20 points you should get your first ban, then get your next at 30-40 points, and then it should max out. Once it maxes out you should get continuous banns until you get yourself together (or your connection) and start finishing games. Points should also get deducted over time, lets say you are on the edge of a ban, but you haven’t played for a few days, some points should be deducted so that you don’t get banned first game if it lags you out. (or just boots you because the game can be broken sometimes) And lets say you went on an awesome trip and you come back just to get banned on your first game, that shouldn’t happen, within 2 or 3 weeks your points should be reset back to 0. With this system it will punish repeat offenders and people with potato internet, but will not punish the occasional quit or game lagged out of. I am not a fan of quitting but I have been unfairly booted and I have also lagged out of games, quitters seem to quit more often so this system will target them more.

I usually do that as well, but this was on the new Arena map (can’t think of the name) and there is literally no place to hide because it’s so small.

What? This has nothing to do with stats. This is about me being stuck in an unpleasant game because the game INCORRECTLY sees me as a habitual quitter. This is a friggin video game, I didn’t rob anybody’s house so that analogy is completely out of line. This is something I’m supposed to be able to come home from work, sit down, and enjoy. And when I’m incorrectly seen by the game’s banning system as a habitual quitter and I can’t quit a game like this that I have absolutely no chance of winning, I’m being spawn killed, I’m being destroyed by people with multiple power weapons because the power weapon spawning in this game allows for over saturation, then why SHOULDN’T I be allowed to quit? My WHOLE team quit out. There IS no game after that point. It would’ve been better for me AND the other team if I had just quit and they didn’t have to wait 10 minutes for the game to end. Your post makes you sound like the biggest idiot ever. It’s a damn video game.

Umm… did you read this thread? I said nobody from 343 cares to respond to the ban thread and I HAVE posted there multiple times about this issue.

I play arena at least 2 hours a day on average, have hardly ever quit in 6 months, the last time was months ago when technically when we had a powercut, so perhaps 4 times in 6 months in HOURS of game play and ??? number of games. I quit once today because server lag was acceptably awful, kills being registered a full second after they are made and I get a three hour 15 minute ban. Totally unacceptable, ridiculous that a game prevents you from playing it and that the system forces you to “play” it even when its impossible to win. Its unfair on all the players, firstly the person who gets banned but also on the others playing against you, its got to the point now that you cant feel any level of achievement because you just dont know if you made that kill honestly, very often I get the feeling that I shouldn’t have won head to heads. Somebody should fix this. or as with all defective products offer a refund.
