Is it possible that all this hate could possibly be partially caused by this:
Halo 2 came out, people said CE was better (Halo2Sucks.com, anyone? Also the MM did suck before the title update).
Halo 3 came out, people said Halo 2 was better.
Halo Reach came out, people said Halo 3 was better (I actually agree with this one).
Halo 4 comes out, people say that Halo 3/Reach was better (I don’t know what people mean by Reach being better, slow gameplay and Armor Lock for one thing…).
I read a few times on these forums about something like this going on with each new installment besides maybe ODST, Wars, and Anniversary and that this can be a natural occurance among the community, and then theres the blind hate, that doesn’t even make sense and then theres the trolls. But still, could this have been partially the reason why theres so much hate for Halo 4?
I like halo 4 way more than reach, even tho there are some stuff that i don’t really like in halo 4 but it doesn’t bother me cause i just play the game for fun anyway.
There’s some people with legitimate complaints, mostly weapon balance, glitches they found, etc. However, this is no different than any of the other games upon release.
But most of it, the “343 sucks they failed Halo’s legacy” and so on, is likely just fanboys of the original trilogy.
This is weird, but Halo 4 is my favorite Halo game besides some things. Reach was also very fun for me and I never understood why it was so hated. I freaking loved it.

Funny you should say that…
Without the original trilogy, your precious halo 4 wouldnt exist right now, now would it?
I still don’t get why people say Reach is nothing but slow gameplay. It was still fast. Just because one weapon kills 0.2 seconds slower then in previos games, doesn’t mean it’s slow.

I agree with you, I loved all the Halo games (with exception to Halo Wars, never played it) and enjoyed them thoroughly.
The Halo audience just wants something to hate in every game I guess, this is why I appreciate the CoD audience (but not Treyarch, I hate those guys).
Some people just like to complain to matter what. There’s another thread going on right now of someone laying into Halo 4 and how it sucks something fierce, but more than one poster in the thread have pointed out to this complainer that they have other posts looking for tips on how to unlock armour and their service record showing continuous, religious gameplay that makes me look like a hater. If you hate it so much, stop playing it, trade it in and buy a game you like.

I was talking about Armor Lock, it kind of slowed the gameplay abit because you were invincible and Active Camo kind of promotes camping…
Maybe it is because the previous Halo was better and with each installment(particularly after Halo 3) they started drifting further and further away from how Halo originally was played. Of course when I am talking about the drifting I am talking about Reach and then Halo 4. They are not like Halo at all. I really should not even have to list why Halo Reach and Halo 4 are not like the original halo games but I probably should since so many people are pretty slow(I’m not going to, screw the slow people).
Like the guy above me said, unless Halo 5 is a really really really horrible game I will not be saying Halo 4 was better. I never say Halo Reach was better than Halo 4.
You are completely right OP. Every Halo game has gotten this much hate. I know the complainers think they are the majority, but they are definitely in the minority. An example of a vocal minority is Dead or Alive 5. Before Dead or Alive 5 came out Team Ninja said they were going to take out the sexuality because of the complaints and there was a HUGE fan backlash wanting it back in.
Another thing the haters like to do is point out that the online population is smaller than past Halos. That’s true but it isn’t the games fault. Halo 2 was so popular online because it had virtually no competition. Halo 3 had to compete with Gears of War and eventually Call of Duty, but back then CoD wasn’t nearly as popular. Halo 4 however has to compete with CoD, Battlefield, and a myriad of other games that have a solid player population. Lastly a lot of hardcore gamers are moving to PC.

haha I enjoy every halo game that’s out there. Sure, there’s not one without any flaws but it just doesn’t make sense to me to spend 60 bucks on something just so that you can pick out every little imperfection of it.

> 3. Halo 4 really sucks. Its a really bad Crysis. I don’t get why people who like Halo 4 don’t just play Crysis because its the same thing, only better.
Crysis online sucks covenent balls and i love Halo 4
