Somehow I am in platinum on arena. My first 10 games involved 1 tie and 3 wins. I managed a 0.267 k/d in those games. Yet here I am in platinum.
My last game against a team of platinum 3s netted me 1 kill and 13 deaths. I was on the ground waiting for respawn for more time than I was alive. You can’t learn to be better when you can’t live more than 5 seconds. I suspect I could get better but only if going against people closer to my own level.
At this rate I am an anchor dragging my team down and having a miserable time in multi-player. Is there any way to go down to gold? Or should I just stop playing for a month and let the current platinums rank up and out to diamond? Because right now it really sucks to play against a team who can kill you before you even see them more than half the time.
Correct me if I’m wrong but arena is all the playlist combined right Ctf, slayer, breakout etc.
So are you platinum in all of them?
Because i only play breakout And I’m placed in gold division on breakout so that doesnt mean i am gold in arena. Because arena is everything.

That sucks man, as you say, how are you meant to improve when you’re just being made in to cannon fodder for the better part of a month.
I recommend playing another playlist, such as slayer or whatever you enjoy the most and get a different rank in that hopefully?

That is extremely odd. Well ranks reset every month. But I’m hearing a lot of people are getting rated Higher (or lower some “pro” claim) then they should.
I got in team arena Dimond 1 with 7 wins and 3 losses. And beta, getting 8 wins and 2 losses netted me bronze.
I am platinum in swat as well and that feels more correct. My trial period was 6 or 7 wins and I can manage the occasional 1+ k/d. However I found it doesn’t translate well into other game types (stupid shields and their other weapons and the vehicles and so on).
I think basing it on wins is a poor option for those who are carried and those who get held back. I have absolutely caused my team to lose despite at least one teammate with 2+ k/d. It is a crappy feeling. On the plus side, I have only seen one idiot contact me afterwards to insult my playing. No crap, dude, I am quite aware that I played awfully.
Anyone feel underranked? I suspect that is more preferred though, heh, as you would be a god among the mortals, until you rank up anyway…
Starcraft is the system its most closely related too,
Its pure win/loss just like starcraft, like it or not this IS the way to calculate performance in the fairest and most accurate way.
I dont believe you can get dropped below platinum visually in rank but be sure you can drop your hidden CSR so you’ll get matched with lower level players if you keep losing, you’ll just have a nice platinum badge till the end of the month so be happy.
(This is unless you team up with much better people in your fireteam then it’s work off an average CSR i assume)
As with all large mass ranking system it takes a while for the system to actually know how good you are and accurately place you.
I do believe the ranking system is broken. I won 9 out of 10 slayer matches with 17+ kills every game and I got put into gold. This makes no sense to me since I only won 5 of 10 in swat and got put in diamond.
I understand that the law of averages should make team-based rankings work, but what just happened to you is what always used to happen to me. I have absolutely no confidence in these ranks at all. Thanks anyway, Arena, but no thanks.
Some how I got into platinum 1 in slayer. My K/D is -3 because I refused to quite 1v4 games during the first 10 games.
I feel a bit out matched in some games and others I can tell there are others misranked like myself. Feels like Platinum 1 is more like bronze, silver, and gold combined.
Normally I get salt with games that derank you but for some reason I’m aware of my level of suck in this game and would gleefully take a derank.
That’s really unfortunate. Not sure if you’re open to advice or anything but you could always watch game film and see where players are going. In a match try and stay 10 meters behind a teammate. You may play a lot better running behind someone and supporting them. Thankfully there are seasons and you’ll rerank.

Yep. Me too. I’m a platinum or gold in 3 playlists which i think is ok. But in SWAT i won 1/10 with a kd of 0.6 and got put in platinum as well. Whaaaaaat? I was against diamond and onyx but still. …

I don’t mind the fact that I’m losing; everyone loses. It is playing against people so much better that I don’t have a chance to even pull the trigger before I am on the ground. If I can live to get into a firefight, I hold my own, but usually in Arena I am dead before I know where the enemy over and over again even if I stick with another player. If I want my team to win (which I do), I am far more useful to them hiding in a corner than trying to actually get kills and this frustrates me.
I wonder if the ranking boundaries shifted over time or were set. I know I did better in SWAT than Jorgie X but he got Diamond and I got Platinum. Likewise, I know people who did far better than I did in area but did not get ranked any higher. If it is a shifting range per group, it would make sense that people would get placed differently depending on when they play. It also ensures a more even spread of numbers. I know Champion is hardcapped at 200 people, so I wonder about the other ranks.
I’m also wondering if the algorithm takes into account your CSR vs the other team’s in order to score a win or loss. Winning against a team far worse than you shouldn’t be worth as much as winning against a team better than you. Likewise for losing against teams far better than your rank.
