I was okay with Insta-Spawn until...

I welcomed the idea of instant respawning, at first. It’s a great way to get back into the game, and doesn’t slow the pace down. But I found something interesting today…

I was playing SWAT and got myself a triple kill. I was satisfied, despite dying right afterwards. I hit X to jump right back in, and as soon as I spawn I get another kill…and it counted as a normal overkill.
I can understand getting multi-kills from the grave, or with the same sniper round, or even a splatter. But dying and getting a multi-kill as if I hadn’t died at all? That just sounds to me like an unfair advantage, and on the border of an exploit. I haven’t said this until today, but maybe instant respawns need to be toned down a bit.

I love that you had the honor to come to these forums, and post about an exploit in your favor.

If only there were more like you…

I remember last night on a Sanctuary FFA custom being able to spawn in and get a revenge medal before my opponent’s shields even had a chance to start recharging. Multiple times.

How about… 10 second forced respawn and you can hit x to respawn instantly when 3 seconds pass. It gives 3 of the 4.5 seconds to negate multi-kill medals and allows the players to shift around a bit to provide with more opportune respawn locations as well as give you more recovery time. I’ve been in a few fights that I’ve won but the person respawned and finished me off before my shields could even begin charging.

I’ve had similar cases. I’ve gotten 2 kills then died, respawned then killed the guy that killed me and gotten the triple kill.

Thanks for this thread.

I’ve played COD since the first one back on the PC. (obviously 343’s inspiration for implementing it, to say otherwise is foolish)

Instant spawns are never a good idea in any game. Trust me. They reward the players who do bad by giving them second chances to go straight at the person who just killed them. This is one of the many reasons I stopped playing COD, and now it’s in Halo. I can’t escape that lame game no matter where I take refuge. It’s killing my gaming desire.

EDIT: You know that revenge Perk in this game? For one of the specializations?
The one that lets you see the the location of the person who just killed you for a few seconds. Add that to instant respawn. It’s a death streak. Just like in Call Of Duty. Call it what you will. I just can’t stand it.

Instant respawn is something great and dangerous at the same time. It feels toos trange that right after you kill someone this same player could be already running at you from behind, all that while you are reloading and recharging shields.
But I must say that this fact of counting the multikills even after death is stupid, they should change it. When you die it should interrupt the serie…

Except when an action you performed before death kills enemies, ie: grenades, explosives, getting sniped out of a vehicle mid-mancannon that splatters enemies.

Yes, fully agree, the “kill from the grave” should keep counted in multikills. It’s unfair that you could get for example a triple kill just by respawning and killing enough fast for 3 times in a row… (that is fully possible in SWAT, as you need 1 second for a kill)

Something similar to that happened to me in Infinity Slayer where I threw a grenade before I died, and then when I insta-spawned I ended up getting a Hail Mary.
