My tone is normal and looking for a proper explanation of why I was booted. I’m playing Team Slayer after the 2015 Game Awards Show and my random team mates have open mics but no communication. One player is playing music, one player is breathing heavy and the other one has his/her family in the background. I try to make communication with no success so I just mute my fire team. I gain the plasma caster beginning of the match, earn one assist then I miss an enemy Spartan while using the plasma caster. My teammate Spartan charges that same enemy Spartan and gets blown up by my miss shot. I earn a betrayal. Near end of the match plasma caster has 10 seconds to be available. I have 13 kills, 3 of those are assassinations and fought side by side my team with no comms. I throw a sticky grenade at the plasma caster since enemy team is in position to gain the power weapon and this same team mate power slides into three enemy Spartans going after the plasma caster and I earn another betrayal then I’m booted from the match. I blocked all three teammates from XBL since they all had open mics but no communication in game for support.
What are the official rules of a betrayal on the battlefield?
Will this boot affect me in match making?
Can I be banned?
I’m not raging for this but I would like to know how to avoid this since I was not intentionally betraying a random teammate blaring music/breathing heavy not speaking/ family background chatter on a open mic that lead to my mute entire team.
Any real help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Discerning between intentional and accidental betrayal is a very hard thing to do. In this case the game gave your team mates the option to boot you and they chose to do so. More often than not though they won’t actually mean to boot you from the game, they just want the notification cleared asap. You can be banned for betrayals, but the odd one isn’t really going to affect you. It’s only really if you’re team killing every match. You should be ok
