I dont read everything anymore so i am missing some parts of this but from what i have they dont seem to be shown to be any less than previous spartans.

Would you not say the Spartan-IVs being more prone to insurrectionist sympathies count? Or how some have let their emotions get to the better of them and jeopardize their missions? Quite a contrast to 343 only showing the Spartan-IVs at their best because they are their babies.

Like? They are afraid NOTHING new can surpass the originals and if they do they haven’t really in the eyes of the fans. We’re humans we don’t like change.
The original Spartans, from ancient times, were trained in Sparta’s military from the age of six. So were the Spartan-IIs.

Watching John or any Spartan II crush and snap a Spartan IV in half would be beautiful.

- Not that It really “matters”, but if anyone has read Halo: New Blood, (Mild Spoilers) Buck a few times talks about how much better each generation of spartans before him was, and that the only real advantage the spartan 4 program has is that they have “hearts” and conscience. Like choosing whether or not to kill someone who did “wrong”. Buck describes each of the spartan programs as such:
Spartan-II: All powerful, almost unkillable Greek Titans, like Cronus.
Spartan-III: Very powerful Greek gods, like Zeus.
Spartan-IV: Superhuman Greek demi-gods, like Hercules.
So, if he, describes them as such, and they go to such lengths, in such a recent canon story, I feel they’re trying to hammer to the point the differences in ability they are.

I wasn’t too convinced by Musa’s claim that the S-IIs or IIIs would have killed a teammate without hesitation in that situation. Consider it: if Buck had killed Mickey that would’ve meant giving in to his anger rather than holding back. In other words, killing him would’ve been the more emotional or “human” thing to do. Meanwhile, the S-IIs or IIIs would arguably have been even more unlikely to kill him because they’ve been conditioned to prevent their emotions from clouding their decision-making.
There’s also the fact that while they had few qualms about killing ordinary enemies both human and alien, the IIs and IIIs’ bonds with their teammates run even deeper than those of the supposedly “more human” IVs. While we haven’t seen a II or III being put into a position like Buck was, due in no small part to the unlikelihood of one of them ever defecting, I have a hard time imagining John, for example, unhesitatingly murdering Sam or Kelly even if they did ostensibly go rogue (or the other way around).
We have to remember that despite being a former teammate of the S-IIs we know and love, Musa has clearly been drinking the Maggie kool-aid for some time. That, and he’s desperate to prove his program was worth it both to others and to himself. There could be a hefty dose of bitterness and envy there too, towards Halsey, obviously, but also his former friends who didn’t fail the augmentations like he did. He’s probably spent decades trying to convince himself that none of it was worth it in the end.

I think the point was that the SIIs and IIIs were drilled and indoctrinated to the point that they would have reacted without thinking to neutralize the threat of the traitor as they were trained to do regardless of who that threat was unlike Buck whose emotions overrode his training. That does not imply that they wouldn’t have felt bad about it afterwards though or be any less human for it as anyone who has been trained to respond in life-threatening situations can attest.
