I want to have a brief word on the ban system

Hello Halo Waypoint,

I wanted to talk a bit today about the ban system for Halo Waypoint and some faults I see with it. (I am not talking about individual bans or complaining about my own personal bans, I am talking about the problems with the system and Waypoint functionality while banned).

Banning is always, in my opinion, very serious. Especially so considering all the features that are attached to it. My problem is however when you are banned, you can’t view the forums at all or interact in any way through your account.

I think this is rather annoying because it encourages people to view Waypoint logged off or just to simply make more alt accounts to post. By having this settling it can create more problems than say just not being able to post.

Another issue is I have seem people complaining about been banned till year 4751, 5000, etc and they have no way to contact a mod or bs angel in that situation. Being banned for 2,738 years is a very long time. I am not here to say the mods are “evil” or “ban-crazy”, but if you are banned for that amount of time, you should be able to contact an admin or other mods to see if you really deserved it. Or perhaps to lower the sentence to a few hundred years.

My point is I believe that if you are banned, you should be able to contact an admin or moderator, through Waypoint, and be able to say something if you feel wronged. Thank you for reading and keep up the good work mods.

(Also I wasn’t sure if this goes in here or the general discussion forum)

This is hardly a new issue and it has been addressed many times before.

There are other ways to contact us such as twitter or XBL since our forum names are also our GT’s.

In addition, there is also the Forum Ban FAQ thread with information on ban appeals. That post is viewable if you sign out of your account to view the forums - as are the rest of the forums themselves. You simply cannot interact.

The bottom line is that using the forums, and that includes your inbox, is a privilege, not a right. If you’d like to discuss it further, feel free to PM the admin team about it.

My last post aside, you already knew all this information because you posted this same exact thread 6 months ago.

And as you can see, the answer’s still the same.
