I Want to Better Communicate My Ideas To You, 343i

Hi 343i,
I very much hope that you are reading this - of course this post is just one of the many thousands posted here on Halo Waypoint - but nevertheless, I do hope that one of you working at 343i will see this post and consider it. I consider myself to be a huge fan of the Halo series. It is definitely number one on my list of favorite video games. I have the utmost respect for you as a studio, 343i, as you’ve inherited one of the greatest franchises in all of gaming history. Your hard work to keep Halo going as a labor of love is very, very much appreciated by me. I would love to see Halo grow and be successful, as I’m sure all of you at 343i want the same.

Now, obviously, I’m no one special. I’m a dedicated fan, who really wants to see change in the Halo series and suggest ideas for Halo 5: Guardians. There are thousands of fans out there just like me, I’m not really that unique. Yet I want my ideas to be heard and considered by the whole team at 343i. Selfish, I know, but I really do think that Halo 5: Guardians needs some adjustments and changes in order to make it the best Halo game possible. I feel that I have valid input, not just “REMOVE SPRINT” or “SMART SCOPE IS UGLY”, and I want this input to hopefully make it into the final version of Halo 5: Guardians. Again, I’m no one special. Just a fan who wants to make Halo 5: Guardians a better game.

So, because I have this love for Halo, because I have these ideas and input for Halo 5, because I truly want Halo 5 to be the best game of 2015, I want to better communicate with you, 343i. I want to better communicate my ideas, input, and passion to you as a studio, and help make real change in the Halo series. Instead of posting on Reddit, or tweeting on Twitter, or commenting on Facebook, or even posting on the official Halo website, I would love a more personal means of communication with you, the developers at 343i. Now, don’t get me wrong, I will continue to post on Halo Waypoint. But I feel that to better say what I want to say, a more interactive and personal communication method is needed. Sorry, this is getting kinda creepy, but I don’t want it to be creepy or intruding on personal space. I just really want to make Halo 5 awesome. That’s it.

Alas, 343i, you may never read this. But I hope you do. And I hope, that maybe I can be a little special, and more directly talk to you, the developers and the artists and the writers and the directors at 343i. E-mail. Instant chat. Google Hangouts. Skype. Anything that’s a little more personal than the forums here on Waypoint.

I’m asking a lot. But I’m asking because I want Halo 5 to be amazing. And to make Halo 5 amazing, I think I can help a little bit with the input I want to communicate to you, 343i. Thank you.

I agree. 343i should look on these forums and pick a select few to help them in the development process. For example, these Halo Waypoint users could give feedback directly to 343 and could be used to bounce ideas off of as well. Just a thought.

I say this because I created a thread a while back with lots of community-based feedback for Halo 5. However, I feel as if it is being neglected, which doesn’t encourage me to continue to provide additional feedback. Having said this, 343i should at least try to acknowledge community feedback by not only replying on Halo Waypoint posts but sending private messages to people as well.

Here is my thread for reference.

Thank you for your response. I completely agree with everything you have said.

This is a super weird post, man. I understand you want to give feedback, but you are just a fan like the rest of us and are limited to the established feedback channels–just like the rest of us. Josh Holmes isn’t going to give his cell phone number out to anyone who has an idea for Halo 5. You also need to understand that providing feedback does not mean your ideas or input will make it into the game, so when you say “I want my input to make it into the final version, so please can we Skype?” that raises some eyebrows.

I’m not trying to rain on your parade here but Waypoint, r/halo, @halo, etc., these are places for fans to talk about the game and for 343i to collect community feedback. You can also find many of the developers like Josh, Frankie, and Brav on Twitter. Please don’t harass or spam them, but if you make a good thread here, go ahead and Tweet them the link, “hey please take a look, any thoughts?”

Lastly, are you member of the Halo Community Feedback Program (HCFP)? The surveys they send out are fantastic and provide ample opportunity for open ended feedback and the presentation of your ideas to 343. The surveys are far and away the best feedback tool I’ve seen a dev team use in a long time. Go sign up for the program if you haven’t already.

Thank you for the response. I do realize the post was pretty weird, I just really want Halo 5 to change for the better. And yes, I am a member of the HCFP. I agree that the surveys are a great way to provide feedback straight to the developers.
