So since the Convenant are back in some compacity, I would love to see 343 ditch that crappy Focus Rifle in favor of the Beam Rifle. I will never understand why Bungie decided to ditch it in the first place. The Beam Rifle was sooo much better thay the Focus Rifle.

A counter part to the human sniper would be so beast. The focus rifle (while cool in it’s own right) isn’t the same.

Well apparently the Covenant Carbine is back, so it’s possible.
I would like it back if only to give me a weapon to swap to in Snipers Pro, since I switch weapons to get out of scope, it throws me off when I can’t.
I would like both Beam Rifle (Sniper Rifle) and the Focus Rifle (Support sniper) to return.

It just didn’t feel like a sniper rifle.
I was never a fan of the focus rifle, so i would be very glad if the Beam Rifle returned. It was a great weapon to use in Halo 3 and ODST.
The Focus Rifle was boring. It made no sense of it being classed as a “Sniper”… The Beam Rifle was the best one from my eyes! I really do hope that the Beam Rifle comes back for Halo 4!

That’s because in a traditional sense, it wasn’t. It was meant to be a long ranged suppression weapon.
That being said, since it’s just a sentinel beam with a long range scope, it lacks the counter sniping abilities of the human sniper. Surprisingly good at closer range if you can keep the reticule on the target though.
There is a reason why Elites spawn with a human Sniper on Hemorrhage during Inv Slayer. If that doesn’t shout imbalance that is biased towards the UNSC weaponry, then i don’t know the definition of the word.

It actually can. In certain maps, for a split second, right after you switch from human to monitor, you can shoot a focus rifle beam. I swear to god this is legit.
I’d just bring back both. Have a human LMG or something as the counterpart to the focus rifle.

No point really, that would over saturate the sandbox. The Focus Rifle is already one the most avoided weapons in Reach.
Every time i play Powerhouse no one picks it up. That’s plus for me since i do on occasion but…i think a sniper counter part would do just fine against the human one.
I would like to see the Focus Rifle be lost and forgotten as one of those mistakes of the series. It has its uses, but it’s not really worth it. Things were alright back when it was just the sniper rifle and beam rifle. Even though the Jackals were pretty much the most lethal thing in the series when they had a beam rifle in their hands.
