In Halo 5 one of the coolest details I like is the gloves of the Spartan finished in beautiful leather stitching. The hands is mostly the only visible thing you can see from your Spartan and I think it needs proper attention to detail.
If you look at Chief gloves in the trailer it looks nice, high-res and very leather, but also looks boring, in the sense that it is not very interesting to look at.
I kinda accepted 343 going back to the looks of the original games, even I’m more towards the new looks, but I have only one request: my leather stitching gloves. I guess when I’m appreciating the graphics of Halo 5, the first thing I see is the weapon and the hand holding it, and I’m always fascinated by how nice it looks and how 343 nailed the attention to detail in the gloves. I wish at least to have apparent stitching in the new gloves, so I can look at my hand in Halo infinite and have the same feeling of how cool it looks, because right now I can kinda not notice it when I’m playing because I don’t think it looks interesting.
I personally prefer the clean look, although the stitching was nice detailing. It just made the armour seem cheaper, to me. Less advanced. Saying that, I really dislike the stitching on the gloves going up the thumb.

The thing with the stitching I like is the exact opposite, I think it makes the armor handmade, more special like a fine product should be. The new one looks fine, but too common.

I agree that it looks handmade, but I think it looks more cheaply handmade instead. Especially the stitching going up the thumb (yes, I’m a little hung up on that). I prefer an invisible stitch, as it is on a suit, but that is just personal preference.
I agree with DigitalVanquish, the stitching does make it seem a little cheap. Even though it was an amazing detail to notice at first, it makes it look too much like leather. The spartan under armor is actual a titanium weave. Stitching, like in the gloves, would be a weak point in the armor. Also, the type of titanium weave would not need stitches.
I really like the look of the stitching, but it makes the gloves look like leather, which doesn’t afford protection fitting of a Spartan suit, and so feels out of place to me.

I think the leather is more for gripping and handling than protection, since there’s already the titanium wave undersuit underneath it. The stitching makes it look more “sport” but the plus is it has a cool look that could allow personalization options in the multiplayer.
I’m kinda torn on this. It’s such a small detail in the grand scheme of things. But it is one of the good things I noticed in Halo 5. I’d honestly be fine with whatever they chose to go with.
But I think the best course would be to have the detail set by what armor is equipped. So newer sets that are post Halo 3 have the leather stitching look and pre Halo 4 have the classic smooth rubber.

But rubber is a better option for both, which is what the OG hands looked like they were wrapped in.

I like the leather stitching too. But when I think about me wearing both types of gloves, I feel like Halo 5’s gloves look like they are meant for people not to get hurt. Makes you feel like if you fall, the leathering will cushion you.
When I think about Infinite’s gloves, I feel like I can put anything on them and I would hurt what i touch. Like if someone punched my hand, they would get a bruise.
Halo Infinite gloves looks rough and strong. Halo 5 looks very soft like.
I prefer the trailer look. I think it fits the futuristic armor better than sewn leather. Besides, in terms of attention to detail, I find the depth of the 3D raised seams enough to admire.

That would be great, but I don’t think 343 will bother to make different models for the Spartans. We still don’t know how spartan IVs will look in the game.

That’s true, the Infinite gloves look very strong material for the spartans to hold something very hot and still keep it safe. My only concern here is just how bland it looks and I would be fine with the material, just the design that I don’t think it is cool enough and the stitches could fix this.

That’s not any priority at all, but I think it is some of that minor details you notice and you think “wow, that’s is some very neat attention to detail, good job 343”

Indeed a thought graphical detail but in this case seemed like a bit unfitting one.
Though I can admit that 343i has skills for graphical details even though I dont agree with every detail in aesthetic design.
No please, everything about Chief’s new armor is perfect, gloves included! We asked for the right artstyle to come back for almost 8 years! ^_^"
EDIT: every time I punched some alien in Halo 3 I saw those magnificent gloves, they are exactly the same in the Halo Infinite trailer, no need to change that at all.

I asked exactly about the gloves, because the hands were pretty much something you wouldn’t notice in previous games, so “no one” would be nostalgia biased about it. Now that it is cool to look at, I just wish to have the same attention to detail in the new gloves too, don’t need to change anything major.
I prefer how it looked in Halo 4’s campaign (undersuits aren’t black in multiplayer) it looked like it was made to help holding the weapons, the stitchings always felt odd to me. Like, is it possible to cut them with a knife…? They don’t seem too resiliant for space or underwater
