Want to play the dlc I paid for. I need to unlock achievements. Why arent the map packs free. In halo 2 after about six months they were free and everybody would download them. I should be able to play what I paid for. It’s not like there is a high population anymore. They should make them free and advertise it to boost player pop… most of all quit ripping us off.
The map packs aren’t free because the original Xbox Live didn’t have achievements or a DLC policy that prevented any DLC that added new achievements to a game being free.
And legally you aren’t being ripped off. Nowhere in the XBL Terms of Service, or the descriptions of the map packs/War Games map pass, does it state that you are guaranteed to play the maps in online matchmaking. All current playlist have the DLC maps incorporated and available to use if everyone in the lobby has the maps. The only way you would be getting ripped off is if you couldn’t access the content at all, which isn’t true since the maps are available for use at any time in either custom games or Forge.
DLC shows up if everyone else in the lobby has it. One person doesn’t have it, no DLC shows up. Everyone has it, it shows up quite often.
DLC maps made a lot of appearances back when Heavies was in rotation, and earlier Squad DLC was a featured playlist for a few weeks. I’m assuming you missed out on the two DLC playlists that were up recently.
Phil already pointed out why 343i can’t make it free. Microsoft won’t allow them - plain and simple. No matter how much the community clamors for it, no matter what sort of logic one may try to apply to how “great” it’d be to make them free - it won’t happen. Ever. Asking 343 to make it free, and in a Community Forum at that, is a lost cause since they have no say in the matter whatsoever. Even if they wanted to, they couldn’t.
Yeah I missed it . Have been off halo for awhile now. I understand what your saying. Do you know when they will be adding a playlist that supports dl only again? It is kinda crap that 343I doesn’t keep a permenant playlist.

Sorry to hear that. Squad DLC was more fun than Team DLC for me personally, but I digress.
No clue. Unless something comes up in the meantime, the only thing I can suggest is to keep an eye on their Matchmaking Calendar

Multi-Team is up next, followed by Dominion (!!), then King of the Hill.
Of all the things 343 added to Halo 4, Dominion was one of the best, and I’ll be greatly sorrowed if it does not return in Halo 5.
