Getting the rank isn’t the issue, I just want it to be shown in more lobbies, or maybe add ranking in more than one playlist. I think Arena Rank should show in all lobbies, and right on your service record. I hope something like this is in the TU, thoughts?
Waste of time, for one.
Furthur, ‘Onyx’ is pretty much a joke in Reach.
I agree,I mean, there is some empty space on your nameplate, why not put arena divison there?
i was a 80% onyx,Now i havent played reach for a while now iam 60%Gold

The developers of Reach, who were Bungie as you know, had a certain type of online first person shooter in mind. They listened to the casual who makes up the majority of the posters who once plagued the bungie.net forums. The type of kids who complained daily about boosters, derankers (the manipulators of matchmaking who actually didn’t bother me at all) the days of Halo 3.
With Reach, you have the most casual friendly ranking system. IT’S BASED ON CREDITS. I hope Bungie is ashamed of themselves, honestly, because anyone with skill will not like this system. I don’t even take in account the ranks of the players I am matched up with anymore in Reach. This credit system is a right joke.
Ok, so that’s going off topic. But hey, 343i, at least make the Arena division visible in all playlists. Uhhhh maybe you’ll have more players who get rated right? Maybe the Onyxs will look better because there will be so many more people fighting for the top spot.
Don’t make the mistake that Bungie made, and please don’t listen to casuals primarily.

I think I love you…
Agreed. I don’t play arena because there is no real incentive. If Arena division showed up on my name plate, or even just by my Spartan when you highlight my name I would play it.
> I think I love you…
Haha, the love!
I could love Reach, but (holy -Yoink- going of topic again!) there needs to be major changes to matchmaking and core mechanics. It’s too frustrating right now.
Uhhh, back to the Arena thing, yeah give us a reason to get Onyx, 343i. It’s pointless right now because no one knows your rank outside of your party and until AFTER THE FREAKING GAME IS OVER. Seriously show us who were are about to play in the pregame lobby. Oh, hey, let’s keep it a mystery right? Yeah that will be good for the causuals because those lil guys might get scared seeing who they are about to play. Also, people who quit during the game, you won’t even get to see their rank after the game. Yeah like I really want to either go on b.net to see their rank or click five -Yoinking!- times in their service record, and that’s even after going to your recent players and look up their gamer tag.

I also think I love you!

I think the division standing should show up on the nameplate in addition to the division placement. The percentage could either be inside the graphic itself or slightly near the corner, as it is on Bungie.net. I’m 1% Onyx, and I certainly wouldn’t mind showing that off in other playlists.
What I would prefer, however, is a return to the 1-50 ranking system, as well as additional ranked playlists.

or, how about
dont listen to the casuals… AT ALL?
at least for core game mechanics. give them their hilarious gametypes, and leave the important stuff to the people who can actually tell whats different, and form logical / thought-based debates on why things are better / worse.
Or just add arena to more playlists? Better rank system, better trueskill, more incentive to win. Three birds with one stone.
Put the arena division symbol on the nameplate. Also include the percent within the division on the nameplate.
I hate having to dig through about 6 menus to view (both my and others) ranks.
The truth of the matter is that all kinds of players disliked the boosters, derankers, cheaters, and hackers. Not just the casuals. The 1-50 system provided an incentive for the more competitive players, but it also provided an incentive for those wanting to rank up illegitimately. Thus often ruining the game for other competitive players.
The current ranking system in Arena has provided incentive to the competitive players while providing little to no incentive for cheaters. I think Bungie limited the visibility of Arena ranks to the Arena playlist for a reason, making them visible outside the Arena playlist would add a large incentive for cheaters.

Except I don’t think arena provides that much incentive to competitive players at all
I have no incentive anymore to get an Onyx just because no one can see it. I want to be able to gloat about it a little. I’ve got Onyx every season thus far and it’s just gotten boring. All I do is play the same people at high level arena -.-
> Or just add arena to more playlists? Better rank system, better trueskill, more incentive to win. Three birds with one stone.
This. And more visibility of the arena rank, perhaps showing it alongside your rank insignia in all playlists.
I can’t be bothered to play Arena. Until people realise that Team games is not the only way top judge Halo skill then it is meaningless to me. An Onyx team player may be a Gold FFA player, and a Gold Team Player could be a potential Onyx player in FFA (where they are not held back by teammates, and have good individual skill). Why people think Onyx at the moment is the best indicator of skill is beyond me when this glaring abyss of testing skill in other playlists is missing. I may offend some Onyx players, but all it proves is you are the best at one fascet of several in Halo Reach.
The Halo 3 1-50 system failed simply due to the fact that it was far too easy to actually get a 50 in the first place. Had bungie made it somewhat difficult like it was in Halo 2 then there may have been a lot less new accounts.
