I used to think

I’m 26 and over the past few years I’m been just not as passionate and excited about games as I used to be.I thought maybe it was because I’ve played so much and for so long, but I think it’s that mixed with the quality of the game and it’s launch state.this is not just a oh 343 sucks post because I’ve dealt with other game companies like ea and bungie who are imo ruining the gaming industry with there games as a whole…let me explain

I never had problems with bf4,but I saw and heard all the backlash from its release and same with destiny, but then my go to franchise is releasing games that are either very barebones ot just completely lackluster, mcc was just an a abomination and a huge slap in the face to halo fans,h5 was just icing on the poop cake, unfinished game with horrible campaign and microtransactions, and then hw2 had 2 betas and was delayed by like 3 months of its original release and it still was unfinished and is having problems, gaming corporations have no integrity and are for the most part are diluting the gaming community…I still can’t understand how fans still stick up for these companies after these situations

I think micro transactions and DLCs, plus increasing hype for games have made the gaming community come to a realisation that some publishers and game developers are just not producing games like they used too. Instead relying on instant cash to fund future projects.

True that.

I think the fans just raise their expectations so much that they end up disappointed because the game doesn’t look how it was in their minds.

I went into halo 5 with 0 expectations, and it is one of my favorite games

Things seem to have gone downhill with the way 343 is handling things. And now, I think the mods here seem to have make it worse for me.

Madden still has bugs and it has 0 expectations at release because it’s basically the same game every year, halo 5 was such a missed opportunity for them and I can’t fathom how people still defend 343

What are you even arguing with me about? Madden and halo? Defending 343 because I liked halo 5?

This whole thread is basically just to complain about halo 5 and 343i, which there are plenty of other threads out there.

…apparently u didn’t read my post then,I also mentioned that dumpster fire destiny and bf4 and hw2,so it’s not just about halo 5…getting so defensive and I wasn’t even calling you a 343 defender

Expectations is what gives people hope,so if we’re bothered by how a game turns out that isn’t necessarily our fault

I read it, i dismissed half of it because it wasn’t halo related. Regardless, you’re talk about how you lost passion for video games, then continue to complain about how those games weren’t up to your standards. if you recall in my original post

That’s fine, I am saying your high expectations are what will ultimately disappoint you. It is absolutely your fault. Game companies can only do so much

It’s my fault and thousands more who don’t like 343 and there handling of halo? And regardless of what u think that defending comment wasn’t directed at you

This is a general discussion thread,it doesn’t have to be about halo,I’m sorry my words aren’t up to your standards…

It’s your fault your disappointed, lower your standards and you will enjoy more games.

You bring up great points, more games do seemed to be pretty bad right? I must remind you that most (key word) of these games are only really bad at launch. BF4 had massive server issues at launch that we try not to talk about, but after a few months when the bug fixes came through, it turned out to be a very fun and enjoyable game which I still play every now and again.
Halo 5 admittedly had a -Yoink- release. After at least three months or so it became a (mostly) great game featuring new maps, gamemodes and opportunities (I will admit some thing came out way too soon like file browser, KotH, Race, Infection etc).
Destiny is one that I try not to think about because it is the biggest scam in the gaming industry, but after all the DLC released (and Bungie re-released the game with all DLC as a normal priced game shakes fist), it became a great game to play with friends with loads of missions and content.
And then there is Titanfall which gave out free maps and gamemodes and was actually really damn fun and still underrated to this day.

So basically what I’m saying here is that most new games have really bad launches, but give it a few months and they become really fun games that last longer than the time you waited.

The fact that some bad games get fixed post-launch doesn’t forgive the practice of releasing broken games. As customers, we shouldn’t have to take a gamble on whether or not the launch issues will be fixed or not. Some developers put in the necessary work to fix their botched launches, and some developers don’t. 343 only seems to do it some of the times. Look at MCC. They made a lot of progress and improvements with MCC, but then they gave up before the work was finished.

I went through these stages myself. I used to play many games when they were new, and the majority of the respected AAA games were polished and amazing.

Lately, it seems games are rushed, buggy and simply a cash grab from the start.

I realized that we are in a new era. It is on ME to figure out how to make my gaming time enjoyable. Now, I only buy NBA 2k each year (until it disappoints me) and Halo every year (until it disappoints me).

So far, no NBA 2k games (couple hundred hours per year, very high level play (unlike my Halo skills, which are terrible, lol). Halo games have all been amazing too. Even MCC is great now, maybe the best game I’ve ever owned. Now don’t start throwing things at me, 100% they haven’t been perfect on launch. I have gotten every acheivement (thing I do with Halo games for some reason), played a bug free (99.9%) campaign and enjoyed them (Halo nerd, read all books / lore / love stories).

Here is my secret for Halo. Wait to play MM until the game is ironed out. Besides dabbling in H5 MM, I basssssically just started a couple months ago. The experience is simply amazing (although my skill will take time to catch up to others). I like to stay 6 months behind on all Halo games MM now, b/c the bugs / tweaks are real.

Other games I will purchase are games that are polished and proven like Borderlands 2 and Binding of Isaac (Steam).

I think it’s on each one of us to figure it out. What we spend money on is completely our fault. Be selective, do your research and find what makes you happy. It may not be video games at all, and that is completely fine (:

Those initial few months are enough to keep people away permanently,I stuck with destiny and halo 5 and Im so bothered by how gaming companies work nowadays

…so everyone who thinks halo 5 was/Is bad is wrong because there expectations were too high? It can’t just be that the game is bad?
