I’ve tried to get on the Halo Infinite train, but with all the issues it is having on PC I just cannot play it. I want to especially play ranked, but when you get kicked out of a game it lowers you a full level which happened to me twice.
So, until 343 finally gets their -Yoink!- together I am still trying to enjoy Halo MCC PC. Unfortunately, my favorite game which is Halo 2A is pretty much dead. I prefer Halo 2A 4v4 and 8v8 over any of the other games, but sadly the population has gotten so low on the game in general the matchmaking is just not happening.
I hope MCC can survive for the coming years but sadly I am afraid it is dying.
Halo 3 is where it seems most people are playing but I am not a fan at all of H3’s multiplayer. I love the levels but the rifle is awful.
Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else was having matchmaking take forever or if it is just me. Have a great day!
People keep saying MCC is dying but I don’t see it. What region are you in? In US, I consistently find 4v4 matches all day long in seconds and BTB in a few minutes. Halo 2 classic BTB is hard to come across though. Go into network settings, turn off relays, and disable platform-based and input-based matchmaking. These settings can mess things up.
Edit: Just tried to get H2A and found a 4v4 territories lobby in 10 seconds. In the middle of a weekday.
During the day time matchmaking can be slow. It’s best to search evening/night. Hopefully more players come back to MCC. MCC is so much better than Infinite in just about every way… It actually kinda boggles my mind as all the complaints about Infinite aren’t an issue in MCC… You can choose between AR or BR starts in social… You can search via input and/or platform matching… The list goes on and on… But yet players ignore MCC and just complain about Infinite.
I’d almost say Halo 2 Anniversary if it had more content would be up in my favorites to play with Halo 3 and Halo Reach (it already sort of is). I really want more maps to be remade and some more cosmetics added mainly armour, and I feel people would play it more. I’d even love if the armour they’d add for the Spartans and Elites wasn’t even new, but just ported armour from the other games. When it gets added to the CGB though I can see a lot of people flocking over to it.
With Infinite after almost a month of not playing and only popping on to see what the weekly was, I only popped on to do the Tenrai stuff then stopped playing and then just went back to MCC. There’s just more to do in MCC because it actually has a decent amount of content, that’s also free.
The amount of features, options, modes, unlocks, etc. is just insane that it still boggles my mind why Infinite didn’t take even almost half the features MCC has into Infinite like the match composer, a CGB of some kind, crossplay toggle, an actual progression system, etc. Infinite could have been way better than what it is.
I see this ‘suggestion’ often enough and that never seems to work. Population issues with MCC has been a problem for a while. A few random people say they have quicker connections but that’s usually based on peak times on certain regions because at certain times online is kind of dead. Take Halo 4 for example that I used to be able to get into games in ranked but now it seems mostly impossible to find match’s while the unbalanced Halo Reach invasion seems to take a lot less time.
I see you’re in the UK. I will admit it seems like the people I see who can’t find matches are usually from EU have a lot of trouble. It may very well be dead over there. Hate that for you all. I tried playing EU servers today and it was super laggy.
Sometimes i can find a match on eu servers during the day, but most of the time, Eu players have to play on east us servers until it’s night time in eu, so i’d say it’s pretty much dead
Yeah H2A while being a horrible remake of halo 2’s multi-player, is actually a fun halo multi-player if you look at it as its own sort of game and not a remake. Plus I can play H2A without having to worry about hit reg or spread or ghost melees unlike the original trilogy on MCC.
I can find games of even H2A Objectives within seconds in BTB, population isn’t an issue as far as I can tell, but MCC’s search functionality does break sometimes needing you to restart the game (or console if on Xbox).
I played exclusively Halo 4 for a long time in BTB and never had issues with that, even with a specific gametype selection during “dead” times the week
its because everyone just gravitates towards 3 because its what their used to or, they’re cowards that only want to play br heaven. literally too much is left behind for “halo 3 only”
Halo 3 is the most popular since it was the only game of the original trilogy to never receive a PC release prior, nor an anniversary edition.
On top of that It’s kind of a L4D2 vs L4D1 situation as well; to many people its basically Halo 2 with less janky gameplay and more features, which is more appealing to play than its predecessor. Now MCC’s issues with Halo 2 exacerbate the issue, but nevertheless, it was always going to be there.
Halo 3 has the best maps there is no doubt, but the issue I have had with Halo 3 since 2007 is the bullet sponge issues. Unless you get three perfect head shots it takes an entire magazine to take someone out. Plus, the feedback on the guns is not fulfilling. The perfect vibration and sound effects from killing someone or a headshot are just not present in Halo 3.
I don’t find H2A horrible as a game, I find it’s multi-player very fun but as a remake of Halo 2 multi-player it is not that close to the original but I am in no way saying H2A is a bad multi-player to play.
You are the first person I have ever heard or known that did not like the H2A remaster. I find it absolutely enjoyable from beginning to end.
What exactly did you not like?
The incredible cut scenes that in 2014 were absolutely the most realistic at the time?
Was it the perfect translation of the original gameplay into 1080p 60 fps for the first time which is now 4K 120fps?
Was it the amazing remastering of the OG music?
Was it the fact that the mechanics of the game had dramatically improved so that you could do more than one function at a time which still plagues Halo 3?
I said I didn’t like the remaster when it came to the multi-player since the multi-player wasn’t that faithful in terms of bullet magnetism and gunplay to the original. However, I never said I hated H2A when it came to the campaign since I think it is a very good remaster of the original campaign. Plus even though I think the multi-player isn’t a good remake of H2’s multi-player I still find it VERY FUN to play so I don’t hate H2A, I just think that the multi-player wasn’t as faithful to the original as it could’ve been, but it’s still very fun.
