So the first thing I did when I put CE:A in was install it so that I could enjoy the campaign listening to the sound of hot lead crashing its way through flesh and bone, not my box sucking in two cubic tons (i hope some of you got that) of air a minute, and to prevent it from burning itself out in a year like with Halo 3.
It worked fine for the first five missions of the campaign. It went awry when I decidid to take a break and see what the Reach half of the disc had in store. As soon as it loaded up, my Xbox spun up to full speed. I figured, “So i guess this half wasn’t installed. Oh well, I don’t plan on using it.” But, when I switched back to the CE campaign, it was still going full blast. So far I have tried swapping back and forth again, turning the Xbox off, and putting in another game.
Nothing works. My Xbox refuses to spin down as soon as I start up CE:A.
I’ve noticed a 50/50 chance of the game being read of the HDD vs the Disc when I just ‘click’ on the game image to play. If I go to Game Library and choose the installed game from there it always plays off the HDD. (this is for any game I’ve installed)
I’m sure they’ve changed the disc format to allow some more space on the discs, and this is why it spins longer (for anti-piracy measures or something) before spinning down.
