I thought equipmemt was single use

In the multiplayer trailer around the 0:58 mark it shows the spartan grapple the skewer, shoot it at a wrthog, then grapple the wasp.

I know its a trailer. So it could just be editing. But it seemed almost linear from 1 spartans point of view.

Now i am only concerned becuase i was existed about equipment coming back. I feel like being a map pickup, and using it when you want was an improvement from halo 3. But being able to use it multiple times seems almost OP.

I hope this is something that can be disabled or edited in game settings. Becuase I will add, being able to use it multiple times in custom games could spawn some new fun game modes.

I’m out and about so I can’t easily find a source to cite, but I do recall reading it phrased as “limited” use. Not single.

It’s likely just editing.

The impression I get is that it’s all pick up, hold until you want to use, dropped if you die (for someone else to pick up), and then single use.

The beauty of them being pick ups is that they have more scope to, over time, buff / nerf each ability after seeing how they perform in action.

And yes, hopefully, there will be options in customs… including having them on spawn.

Could be different on a case by case basis. I can see the grappling hook having multiple if not indefinite uses whereas other items are more limited.

Having the Grappleshot as a piece of equipment with only one use would be silly, imo. Two grapples seems more balanced.

I think it’ll be on a case by case basis.
Some equipment like the drop wall would be more appropriate for a single use item.
Whilst something like the grapple would probably be more appropriate with more than one use.

As some of the 343i community team have stated on Twitter - these trailers aren’t the final product. If things need to change for balance purposes they will do so.

Maybe there’s different types of equipment? Using something like a drop wall or regenerator more than once would be pretty op, but only being able to use the grapple once or twice would be kind of lame, and would really kill the depth of the ability imo. Maybe abilities like the grapple are on a cooldown, but equipment like the drop wall are single use? I guess we just have to wait to find out.

I imagine each type of equipment will function differently.

The grapple hook and arm-shield-thingy will obviously have multiple uses until dead or dropped, but something like a drop shield would be single use only.
