We already know that Master Chief will be fighting a new threat with multiple varieties, (as many varieties as the Covenant and the Flood have) that use their own set of weapons. That leaves us only one thing: Forerunners. I won’t spoil the books for you, but from what I’ve read, the Forerunners could still be alive ready to kick our -Yoinks!-.

It does seem to be that Forerunners may be the primary enemy, but I’m still praying this isn’t the case. This would be one thing that could, for me, ruin Halo 4.

Oh you mean my thoughts on this? Well of course we’re fighting forerunners. They are the second most mysterious beings in a video game. And what was revealed of them is not exactly …Friendly. ( The most mysterious are the precursors.)

It’s amazing! That somebody is talking about the campaign for once rather than raging about the “changes”. I don’t know what we’ll be fighting, but once we play the first game. I think people will figure out what the new trilogy will be about.
forerunners are confirmed. Can’t remember if it was game informer, but some magazine (might’ve been xbox magazine) cover says “Master chief fights the creators of the halo rings” aka, forernners

I’m pointlessly hoping that any claims to a Forerunner enemy or surviving Forerunner are completely false.

From the sounds of it it’s going to be a brand new enemy. They probably would have said if it was the Forerunners as they’re the only other obvious answer apart from the Covenant and Flood.
