I think this is the worst de sync I’ve experienced

First blogpost on the matter from 343 itself.

Wasn’t it the one that was removed afterwards? It literally said they tried something new and it backfired. I can’t remeber the exact words.

You’re thinking of how they chose to do matchmaking. Where it fills a lobby, then finds a server vs. finds a server, then fills the game with people from that server.

no, it specifically said how the dealt with latency and what things the tried to equal it. Isn’t the post no longer available? I don’t find jack on the halowaypoint side…

Yeah I get that all the time, but for me it’s like I play well and they turn off my aim assist to stop me from winning.

I know it’s not true but that’s how it feel in certain games.

No I wouldnt doubt it actually. They don’t want you to level up too fast. And maybe it’s just the other teams turn to get a win(?) I totally believe it, theres a lot of messed up things about this game and i wouldnt doubt that this ‘artificial handicap’ is one of them.

You’re looking for this article, correct?

It’s even worse, often during a match you can feel like sort of switch has been flipped, and all of a sudden the team that was loosing hard within a minute becomes pro at the game, guy from the very bottom of the scoreboard suddenly becomes an unkillable monster whereas you go from 12-3 to 12-12 in no time. This is an absolutely god-awful, garbage-tier design, like, they have implemented this terrible SBMM that only creates unbelievably unbalanced teams, where ot should do the exact opposite, and then on top of that treats you with crap like this where it boosts all those weak players it has put there in the first place…

I think, but wasn’t tgere sometiing else to delted? Anyway, it literally says in the first paragraph that desync occurs due to their lag compensation. While it is clear that the problem is present in every online game due to the physical nature of data exchange, obviously 344 dis a way worse job than other companies. The longer kill times in halo do the rest…

Why on earth the xbox profile should have something to do with it is beyond my imagination and even if so, this should have been fixable in 22 months time without a problem. Plus, if 344 would have had proper flights before the public beta, the problem should never reached the final version of the game.

In the end, 2 things ar obvious for me: 343 createe a problem so deep that they can’t fix it. With the incredible low player amount (i basically play the same 20 dudes in ranked over and over again), any problems related to latency won’t change for people outside the US. Not that 343 ever cared about ther non US playerbase anyway.

edit: the feel of turned of AA and some weirdly comebacks are noticed here as well. On both sides of the table. Don’t know if it has to do with lag or if there indeed is a system in place. At this point, even auch an outrageous claim doesn’t seem so unlikely guven 343‘ history…

all day every day - I’m sure there’s only twenty people playing the game in each division.

Yup! Same exact experience here. At least Im not alone here, lol…

That’s why everyone should stop spending money in the shop buying cosmetics and completely stop playing this disaster of a game. 343 needs to get the point that either they fix it or the game will die worse than it already has. You don’t reward people for making a bad product. If I worked like they do I’d be fired for sure

Lag compensation is in every single multiplayer game; it is not some random intentional desync-designed thing by 343. It is a literal requirement to have for online games.

How is it possible to see your stats on Waypoint or on Halo Tracker? Because those stats are collected as data assigned to your Xbox profile. That’s why if you look up IntoValhalla you’d find my stats. It’s connected to my gamertag.

Anyway, the issue here is that when you are in a gunfight, the server is attempting to send data to your Xbox profile for stat collection. Like how many shots were fired or what your accuracy is, all in real-time. Because Xbox has not updated its system, and you may have other games attached to your profile as well, there is a lag generated server side while trying to update/access the Xbox profile for data collection/storage. Thus creating some small amounts of desync.

This home is completely connection based. That includes aim assist. How aiming/aim assist feels will be determined by what your connection is. Yes, it’s a problem, yes, it is being worked on, and yes, it will eventually be fixed.
