Events shouldn’t happen one right after the other. I think 343 needs to step it back and do an event like once every 2-3 months and make them really special instead of these weak ones we are getting where it’s more of a special weekly thing than an actual event where all we have to do is login every day or complete a challenge. Events should be special and bring something cool to the game besides bland cosmetics.
I think it’s great we are getting events, but I don’t know about everyone else but I’d rather 343 focus more on new maps and gameplay content than a couple cosmetics. As is I’m only really logging in to do the event stuff because I’m already bored of the same maps and content and I can’t play BTB because it’s broken and the challenge system and weekly rewards aren’t fun to do or any good so I haven’t been bothering to do them.
Hopefully now that the Holidays are over they buckle down and fix a lot of the games issues and get us new content cause besides the hardcore fans a lot of people won’t stick around if the game is broken, lacking content and trying to price gouge us in the shop.
I feel you there. Though, I think a remedy should come from something more permanent, like a general progression system, more social features, forge, and just more content in general. Events are only a bandaid.
I kind of agree, but I hate when I’m required to play every day to have a chance at whatever boring cosmetic they give as a reward. So I wouldn’t be for extending the event time, cause a week is exhausting enough.
Seems like they are using events to artificially get players to play certain playlists, which is also annoying in itself depending on what it is.
I’d rather get a week login event and a fracture every month, than nothing for months, except earning the same stupid emblem 4 times for weekly rewards. I already am sick of playing. The events at least get me to bother playing some matches that week.
Well that’s the thing. They are spending all this time coming up with events and the items to go with them that it’s taking time away from actual content development. I’m where you are where I only login to do the event stuff and then I get off. Which is fine I guess giving us a reason to come back, but I’d rather have new maps and game modes and a custom games browser a new even that happens a week if not soon after one already ends.
Most of the cosmetic content was datamined in game files a while back, and some stuff like the Mark V Zeta helmet in the Tactical Ops event is already in the game on a NPC Spartan. A lot of this stuff was either already made or in the process of being made for some time. That’s not taking that much away from long term big feature development and that’s what a live service is, working on and having small events mixed in with occasional large patches.
Plus the gamemodes that come with events (such as Fiesta with Tenrai and King of the Hill with Cyber Showdown) ARE actual content that we sorely need. And some of us who’ve already maxed the battle pass don’t have any other goals to grind for when events aren’t running except for maybe Ranking in the ranked mode.
