i think its about time...

…we hear something on halo: xbox one. its a little over a year away and we know almost nothing about it other than it’ll have the chief, 60 fps, and dedicated servers. i hope they come out and say its officially halo 5. and i hope they do so soon. the wait is killer.

The wait is killer, yes. But starting to throw information this early kills the experience later. Happened to a lot of people with Halo 4, since 343 was talking way too much about the campaign on their Vidocs.
I say we wait a little. Maybe show a teaser during this year’s awards, then show gameplay during E3 2014.

343 should at least make it clear that they fixed their mistakes. Hopefully with a short sneak peek into multiplayer.

agreed. i dont want to know too much. but right now we dont even know what the game is called and it comes out just next year. give me a name with a teaser trailer like you said and im happy. maybe a public beta would be a good idea for the people who are still sceptical about the matchmaking direction.

We didn’t know anything about Halo 4 until the Gameinformer magazine which came out in May 2012, which was then followed by E3 2012 in June.

We still have a LONG time to go before we hear anything of importance.

Wrong. There was the trailer/BTS reveal in March that had footage of Spartans running around “Wraparound” (Haven) and “Warhouse” (Adrift) with BRs and some Campaign shots of Master Chief in his new armor.

Sorry, OP, but 343i likely have nothing to show at this point. Most of the features are probably far from their final iterations and the ones that even resemble what 343i has in mind are all subject to change or be removed. 343i chose a very early date to announce their game and now we’re in for a bit of a wait. The earliest date we’ll see a reveal is the VGAs in winter.

Thanks for the correction. But that’s still a long way away. Seven months away to be exact.

Yeah, it’s horrible. But I think we may still get a second CGI reveal trailer. Think about it, the game hasn’t been revealed yet. The only thing we know us that it’s a Halo game on the Xbox One. We don’t know the name yet.

I think we shouldn’t rule out the VGAs this time, we may just see the game fully announced there.

I think it would be good to reveal roughly 5% of campaign, 10% of custom games, 15% of forge, 30% of theater, 15% of Spartan ops/Firefight and 25% of multiplayer features before Halo 5s release.

This way we would still know hardly anything about campaign before the game releases but we know mostly about the theater and matchmaking before the game releases so we’ll know if theaters any good (and theater shouldn’t need to be that big of a surprise) and we just know enough about Matchmaking to know it’s main features and wether it has included any classic features along side infinity features. I think for Halo 4 before its release we knew too much about campaign and not enough about the rest of the game.

If they only have two years of development time, then the wait for information will probably be longer than it was for Halo 4.

I wouldn’t expect anything until a little before E3.

I’d like them to tell us what they’ve learned (specifically) from Halo 4 and what they plan on doing differently. I don’t want anymore vague answers, they need to be clear and upfront with the community after the disaster that is Halo 4.

I want to see Halo taken back to is roots, I want to pull all-nighters playing Halo again, I want my entire friends list to consist of Halo players like the good old days. Of course they need to innovate and improve when making a sequel, but please for the love of God don’t fix what isn’t broken.

I want them to keep quiet until next E3

I’d actually prefer if they released as little information as possible.

First reason is that the sheer amount of information they released about Halo 4 killed of a lot of suspense. There was little to discover left when the game was actually released.

Second reason is that I’d like to see how well a new Halo on a new generation console holds up without a hype build up.

God, they shouldn’t of said much about Halo 4, E3 2011 we got the trailer, that was pretty much perfect, E3 2012 they show off Prometheans and multiplayer, then suddenly we are bombarded with this news, it sort of killed suspense

i wouldnt call halo 4 a disaster by any means. but i mostly agree with what you had to say in your second paragraph.

yeah, I don’t want to see half of a level before the game is released.

Multiplayer stuff would be fine, but showing pretty much the whole of a level? That was dumb

They should defiantly show some multiplayer next E3, maybe a longer trailer for campaign, but if there is a new enemy like say; insurrectionists, then they shouldn’t show that so it’ll be a surprise.

The Prometheans were shown so much after their reveal, it removed the surprise factor completely, the only campaign stuff I’d like to see would be upgrades to the AI
