Even if it’s good as a stand-alone show, it must be non-canonical for several factors that they’ve chosen to take; namely the casting of the Keyes (yes, that is a canonical break), and this human raised by the Covenant to hate humans.
Just watched the latest episode of Mandalorian, so good.
Bruh, wish we are gonna get a Halo show like this that is its own cool thing while also having having tie-ins with other pieces of the fiction, and is actually part of and fits within the canon…
Alas…

Dude, watched the latest episode of Mandalorian, and bruh it’s so good. All the tie-ins, name drops, etc, amazing how it’s trying other parts of the continuity together, I really wish the Halo TV was gonna be something like that, alas, it’s a Frankenstein mess that should just be canned at this point, especially with Kurtzman possibly coming in…
Good or not, you know we will all give it a shot. I just hope they at least try to keep things like they are supposed to be.

Definitely, and something I wish that would’ve happened is that MS and 343 would’ve made the show under some Xbox Production Studios instead of Showtime.

There is a history of them attempting to make a Halo TV show in the past, maybe they did, but the cost of production can only be supported by Showtime?

Which is a shame, and this may just be me, but I’d honestly prefer it being CG, with Blur or Axis over live action.
It would be nice to have live action parts though, not going to lie, but I just do not see how they could be successful by doing primarily CGI with some live action.

So what needs to happen is that if this show is canon, then it should be remade from scratch and be compatible with the canon because there’s a major amount of canon breaking coming from the show.

Exactly, if the show is gonna be canon, they gotta rebuild the show from the ground up. Though I suspect the show won’t be canon.

They’re not gonna throw away the millions already invested into the project just to redo it from scratch. Especially not to appease a vocal minority of angry fanboys.
It’s just the way things are.
If all the leaks and casting rumors are true, it’s not canon whether they say it is or not. Based on things I’ve heard, Cortana shows up in the universe years earlier than normal violating the 7 year smart AI rule and Captain Keyes and Miranda will be a different race. For the record, no problem with that casting if it’s outside canon but you can’t just change a character’s race and claim it all exists in the same universe.

If the show isn’t going to be canceled or rebuilt from the ground up, then it won’t be canon because too many things about this show is incompatible with the lore.

There is absolutely zero chance this is canceled or rebuilt now that Paramount has started advertising it as a featured show for their service. Production is underway and it’s been delayed so many times already, we’re getting what they’re making right now.

I’m just wishful thinking haha. Thankfully it’s pretty clear at this point it won’t be canon.

Just treat it like Odd One Out. “But you know what? I’m one heck of a MAMA myself!”

Yeah, it seems like the show won’t actually be part of the canon, just it’s own thing, like other movie and TV adaptations of video games.

The Halo universe is plenty big and diverse enough to accommodate any demographic in any facet of the story. If they did that, most people would like the characters, regardless of what majority or minority demographic they were a part of.

It’s a slap in the face to anyone who want to see the books/games they love depicted accurately in live action, and it’s not fair to the actors who have to try to accomplish performances that measure up to a character that has the advantage of nostalgia (and usually better writing) over them.

Agreed
In the recent canon fodder, in terms those portraying Chief, they said this about Pablo Schreiber, “The newest member of Club 117, Pablo Schreiber will be donning the Master mantle in Showtime’s upcoming adaptation for the Halo television series on Paramount+.” The use of the word “adaptation” to me seems to indicate that the show WON’T be canon.
