I think it is hilarious...

You have Halo: CE, the game that revolutionized console FPSs

then you have Halo 2, the game that added a standard of matchmade online games

and then you bring in Halo 3: the game that took everything great about Halo 2, and gave you an amazing pack of tools to work with

Then you see Halo 4, lol.

I wish I never saw Halo 4… I plan on staying rank 1 forever in H4 =P

Put them all together and everything breaks… it’s sad but is funny.

But Halo 4 added… Uh…

Give me a few hours, I’ll find something.

EDIT: In all seriousness, though I didn’t like much of the armor itself, Halo 4 did an excellent job with customization and armor-variety. However, after seeing what they did to Halo 3 and 4’s customization in MCC, I’m terribly worried that we’ll never see that kind of depth again.

I think you’re on to something here… I don’t blame 343 for breaking MCC I blame Halo 4 Hahaha…

Broke lore.

Revealed forerunners.

Killed off a major character.

Was practically a sci fi soap opera near the end.

84 buttons to press during the span of the campaign.

2/10

Halo 4 campaign is awesome IMHO…

Indeed, I would have preferred if the Forerunners were preserved in mystery. Though, to be fair, didn’t the novels pull back the curtain before Halo 4 did? As for the death of one of the major characters…

I would have been fine if Cortana didn’t die in the most ridiculous, cliché fashion possible. Stories should have weight, and sometimes, that means putting an end to important characters. But it’s imperative that they’re sent off in the right way, and that they stay gone afterwards. Halo 5 will probably bring her back through some Deus Ex Machina mumbo-jumbo.

yes, they used the novels as a guideline for the story. the man who compiled the “halo bible” became one of the head writers, if im not mistaken.

That doesn’t mean the game had to take place 5 years later.

It also…

Adopted a dedicated Sprint button.

And Grenade Indicators.

And hitmarkers.

And Personal Ordnance.

And Loadouts.

Added more weapon clones, mostly OHKO and precision weapons.

And QTE’s.

Made multiplayer canon (can be good or bad depending on how you like your multiplayer)

Butchered most gametypes, Infection especially.

Second-worst MM maps in the series, Reach taking first.

Zero Covenant maps.

QTE’s broke Campaign Theater, made it impossible to view.

Made the final boss a QTE.

Entire campaign story was dependent on external media, wasn’t self-contained.

Shortest campaign in the series (only 8 missions, CE had 10, 2 had 13, and 3 had 9)

Worst armor design in the series, reminiscent of Power Rangers and Neon Genesis Evangelion. (though this is a very subjective viewpoint)

Annoying dynamic lighting feature, has it’s cons and pros.

Zero humor in campaign.

Almost zero easter eggs except for the Conan one and the hidden weapon caches.

Tone of the campaign was out of character for a mainline Halo game, went for realistic rather than Shakespearean like 2 and 3.

Butchered Firefight, replaced with SpOps, which has zero replayability and has legions of co-op bugs.

And more.

Everything you’ve said is pretty much spot on…And makes me very, very sad. Don’t forget 5 months for file browser.

I’ve yet to play a minute of Halo 4 on the MCC. Guess I’m just getting lucky with voters in TS.
Only thing that might compel me to play it is achievements.

I liked Halo 4 for all of a month messing around with all the new stuff. After that I realized gameplay was drastically reduced because of all the added stuff. So much “balance”. Anyone at any time could magically get one of the million one-shot-one kill weapons in the game. Yea maybe balance isn’t the right word, but w/e. Kept playing because all friends migrated to it.

Hey look another hate thread…

Ya the forerunner saga come out before Halo 4

The only thing I liked about Halo 4 was the Campaign, because of the Prometheans.

I’m glad you mentioned the horrifically crippled gametypes. Custom Games suffered a terrible blow. That, for me, was the single biggest problem in Halo 4. Unforgivable, even. And after so much exposure and polite requests from the community, nothing was done to address it - thus severely limiting the game’s longevity. Shameful.

I played and replayed Spartan Ops a lot expecially chapters 6-10 mean it has replayability for some.

I loved Halo 4, haters ganna hate
