I Think I Found A New Easter Egg!

Let me tell you about it.

It’s on the mission ONI: Sword Base. Now, I already know about the white Elite when you return to the base, but I found something else.

After I returned to Sword Base, I took the cart you can drive to the left of you. I then (after eliminating hostiles) drove, well, crammed it into the elevator, and ascended to the next level. I drove it up Sword Base’s many floors until I got to the one where the Elite Ultra is hiding with a group of grunts.

Driving it past here, and going to where you go up to the next level, where the Elite Officer and some Jackal Snipers are, I noticed something. I looked behind me, and in the room standing there (the lower level of where the General is) was a completely white Elite Minor with duel Plasma Rifles.

I’ve tried this without driving the cart up before, and I never saw it again (27+ times) until I drove the cart up. Every time I play with the cart (tested only on Normal), the Elite Minor is there.

Now, funny thing about this Elite Minor is it has both Evade and Armour Lock abilities.

Have any of you seen it before?

If I remember correctly, the voice announcement that plays when you Reach the upper level of the base, makes a reference to the fact you bought the cart with you. I may be wrong though. I’ll take another look tomorrow and see if I can spot the elite you’re talking about.

Hmm…Interesting. I don’t believe I saw this before.

I sure hope so, I’ve never been one of the first people to find an easter egg before

You have found a BOB ( Born On Board) There are supposedly 47 BOBs in the Reach Campaign. Unfortunately finding this one is not new. The extract below is from halowiki. The funny thing though it doesnt mention anything about having to drive the Forktruck up the ramps to find it.

ONI: Sword Base

In this level, a B.O.B. will spawn in one of two locations. Each B.O.B. encountered on this level will be a randomly-generated Elite wearing white armor and dual-wielding plasma rifles. In this mission, B.O.B. does not seem to disappear until well after being spotted.
■The first spawn location is in the Courtyard area after the player returns from the missions at Faragut and Airview stations. The spawn location is to the left of the garage entrance. Once detected, this B.O.B. will retreat to the area where the mission began, giving the player the impression that there is something important back there.
The second spawn location is in the room below the damaged area with the General Elite. He will be under attack by some Marines across the bridge. If you sneak up on him, do not assassinate him as the amount of time you have to kill him will likely run out, and he will disappear in the process. Also, you must attack him first before he attacks you, so make the initial strike count.

Map data (not available to the player) indicates that there probably were plans for three more spawn locations—one at Faragut Station, one at Airview Station, and one in the area in between—but these spawn locations seem to have not made it into the final game play. (See the “Bob” forum on bungie.net, p. 199.)

Strange thing, though. No matter how much I do try to find him, it never works without the cart. Why?

And yes, I’ve already heard of BOB’s before (Bungie.net Medal!). Off subject, but isn’t funny how when you kill them they show up (post game stats) as an Elite Light Vehicle? Somehow, it would have been cool if there WAS something like that in the game.

Anyway, thanks.

Thanks for the flashbacks! The BOB hunts were some of the best times I’ve had in the Halo series. There are a lot more BOBs outside of Sword Base, you should try killing them… all of them.

Hah, yeah! I’d say the hardest one to hunt down was the one on Exodus, the one in the Banshee.

Kat said something about it being crowded on the elevator when I tried this.

Actually it says, “Welcome to the Office of Naval Intelligence, an ONI representative will be with you shortly.”, and Kat responds, “I doubt that very much.”

That bit of dialog happens EVERY time, regardless of whether the cart is in the elevator.

Interesting! I’ve seen the same BOB you’re describing multiple times and I’ve never driven the cart up there (sounds fun though xD).

Maybe there’s something you do different during the level to trigger a different BOB spawning (the one in the courtyard, also white and random rank).
