Okay, so there are a lot of threads about how people are ranked too high or too low or whatever it may be. And I think I figured out the issue.
My assumption is that the game populates the divisions based on the CSR of the currently placed players. So, if you were one of the first 200 people to get your 10 placement matches done, you’d be in champion no matter what your csr/kd/win loss was. At least, until you got replaced by people who placed higher than you AFTER you.
This can be applicable all the way down the divisions. The problem comes in when demotions between divisions is impossible. So, you may have a legit gold player who did his placement matches right away at launch placed in diamond because of the lower population of placed players at that time, who now can’t be demoted to his rightful division.
I’m hoping CSR will still fix this issue; matching people correctly regardless of the icon next to your name. But you may see yourself matching against much higher or lower rated people until the next season resets it all. In my opinion season 2 will have much more accurate divisions.
This is all assumptions though guys, I have no idea if this is whats actually happening. I think it makes sense though
I haven’t gotten my rank yet, but some of the games you get before you get your rank are crazy lol.
Nevermind if players are ranked too high after 10 games, we have to wait few weeks/months before those ranks really mean a thing.
A decent amount of my matches aren’t really balanced at all right now and I think that is somewhat understandable being that the entire population is going for ranks right now so the data is skewed. After the reset(s) the matches should start to even out. The one thing I am not a fan of is the fact that people cannot be demoted from a division. At launch this should have been enabled to get players back to where they belong. After a season or two, maybe then they could have considered whether to do away with the ability to be demoted. I’ve seen people (like one of my friends who got to Platinum) who don’t play at the level of the division they were initially assigned get absolutely steam rolled. Heck I’ve absolutely steam rolled people and wondered how they got to that level because some of the things they were doing were not what you would consider Diamond or Platinum level.

If they’ll do this is like admitting the whole rank system is broken so they will not do it
The problem is that in the first 10 matches it doesn’t matter how you play, it’s all about total wins.
If you are lucky and happen to be in a team with a really good player, you’ll win lot of matches. Therefore, you’ll be in an higher rank than you should.
If you are unlucky, you’ll lose and be in a lower rank.
I am diamond 1 SWAT.
Yesterday I had 2 games after reaching Diamond 2 with a diamond 1 player that had, in 2 games, 4 kills and more than 35 deaths. OF COURSE he was in my team both matches, we ended up losing (even if the other 3 players had all positive k/d) and I’ve gone back to Diamond 1.
He shouldn’t have been ranked that high, it was frustrating for everyone involved.
They need to implement some additional criteria to the overall wins count in the first 10 matches or it’s really unfair.

Unfortunately this just can’t be true. I got placed in Diamond yesterday after winning all but one of my placement matches. All but 1 or 2 of those matches (and even those 1 or 2 matches I still did good) I dominated those matches. My friend who played his placement matches with me got placed in Gold. We played 9/10 placement matches together and we both won 9/10, but one of us got Diamond and one of us got Gold. Now that aside he actually did ok. His stats weren’t nearly as impressive as mine were so I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say there is something else that helps calculate placements besides wins and losses.

Yeah it’s -Yoinking!- random lol, I think it uses the same system as REQ packs lmfao.
