i think i can shed some light on ELITEs being enemies in halo 4

This is just a thought, and im probably wrong about this, but I think the elites are heretics from halo 2. I don’t remember halo 2 that well, but didn’t the heretic escape after his fight with the arbiter. If I remember correctly and he did, whats to say he’s still isn’t active. That’s just my assumption. What are y’alls thoughts on this.

The real reason is explained in Glasslands. There are hostile Elites remaining because they still believe in the doctrine of the Covenant and praise the Forerunners as gods. They merely see the Prophets as false and corrupt representatives of the gods - akin to a rogue priest.

The Elites are heavily divided in Glasslands. We see the Arbiter and his followers advocating a truce with humanity but many of them still want to see the UNSC fall.

You remember incorrectly. The Heretic Leader was murdered by the Arbiter and the Heretics were completely decimated when their base of operations was utterly destroyed shortly afterward.

The Heretics in Halo 2 won’t be involved because they no longer believed in the Halos providing transcendence to all believers. Technically, those guys became atheists.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a Covenant-religion remnant group.

Like I said, I hardly remember halo 2. But thank you for the correction

The fact that I read the article and it stated that in the first mission, after dispatching the enemies on board, the Chief sees a Covenant FLEET.

Something pirates probably won’t have, in fact, it seems like the Elites are in it for real, or at least one powerful faction that has come back together with Grunts.

I believe the concept art shows Jackals, in fact, the more I think about it, I think the Covenant has reformed. Who is their commander? I don’t know.

Considering that fact that the Arbiter states in Halo 3
“There was honor in the Covenant once, and there shall be again!”

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was him. They may ditch their beliefs, but they probably still have a bone to pick with humanity.

It could be someone else, perhaps some religious group, but I am betting on full scale war.

Again, it was just a thought. I too read the Gameinformer article, and the look of the grunts and the elites is what made me think that.

The holy Arbiter never murders in his sacred duty.

What he did was assassination. Tartarus’ death on the other hand may have been murder since it wasn’t sanctioned although I like to call it the upholding… of justice!

Assassination is murder.
