I think I am insane.

The definition of insanity is doing the same action repeatedly, thinking that you will get different results from the same action, each time.

And I think I am insane; I come onto this forums everyday, hoping that it contain topics other than these stupid “CoD = Halo” topics or “Halo 4 will be bad” etc etc etc. I understand that this is a place to express concerns and opinions, but seriously? You guys are beating a dead horse; use the search bar, lurk, use google, whatever! Try to find the answers yourself before posting ANOTHER clone topic. If you need clarification, that’s fine; mention that in your OP.

I just hate sifting around these topics looking for some interesting conversation to take part in. I love Halo, I just hate it being defaced in front of me every day.

Yeah, someone you may say “well, this topic sure isn’t helping!” and you may be right; it may just add to the clutter, but, the reason I made this topic is to get clarification for MYSELF as to WHY a lot of the community here likes to start trouble and make cloned topics.

And others may say “then don’t come to these boards, if you don’t like seeing this much negativity”, and my answer to that is, is that I shouldn’t need to go. That’s running away, and I don’t do that. Besides, I am not going to let the trolls and corruptness of these boards push me out of my Waypoint, away from my beloved Halo. THEY should be the ones banned and pushed away from here.

Ya know the whole theory “If someone tells you something long enough, your mind subconsciously starts believing it”? I believe the same thing applies here. Seriously, I do not want to keep reading negative nancy and debby downer topics about Halo 4 before I can even get a taste of it when it comes out. And it won’t only happen to me, but to every other Halo fan on these forums. The trolls and complainers are bittering up the the sweetness of Halo, for us, before it even comes out!

I just want a day of peace, on these boards. I just want to come on here without worries that some troll or CoDFanboy will ruin my visit here.

I understand that some of you are legitimately upset with the game and have legitimate apprehensions. You have every right to be! As LONG as you construct a mature and thought out topic or argument.

Thank you for your time, reclaimers!!

Inb4complainingaboutcomplaining ('cause I have NEVER heard that one, before)

Bhahahahahahahahahaha My life story.

I hate those threads too, but his is a forum. Hate threads are as common and guaranteed as the sun setting each night.

I come on the forums to check out troll posts, and then contradict them or give my points. (Example: Me talking on a complaint about complainers thread.)

I don’t come here to have a nice cup of tea and chat how awesome Halo 4 is going to be. I ALREADY KNOW THAT. Have some fun and make the time pass before the game comes out. Complain about something you don’t like and just see how fast time goes! It’s the forums with a bunch of nerdy/confused/enraged Halo fans, deal with it.

People have differing opinions and it’s supposed to be a bad thing? The immaturity is not derived from those who have negative thoughts about the game, it comes from people like you telling them they shouldn’t have that opinion.

Diversity in thought is one thing that makes Halo so great and allows for everyone to have the gaming experience they want from the game they love. So let people have their opinions and they will let you have yours.

“You’re goin’ off the rails on the crazy train!”

I am not saying I don’t want them to have opinions. I am saying that if they have something to say, to say it maturely and constructively. Don’t tell me that you don’t see the endless amounts of shallow or even lack of arguments around here (That goes for the positive threads, too). If you have an opinion, support it. It’s not that difficult.

I have seen a handful of very well thought out arguments and opinions in the negative posts towards Halo 4, and I was impressed. Very mature conversations spurred out of them too, but, when it gets out of hand and turns into a troll-war and the OP just explodes and their posts become nearly illegible…well…that’s what bothers me, because that happens ALOT.

Yes, yes, I know it’s a forum, and I know that this kind of thing isn’t only BOUND to happen, but EXPECTED to happen, but…I dunno. I just wish we all could be happy. Cume-by-ya and that -Yoink-.

I guess my main concern for these boards are the trolls, rather than those with different opinions than myself.

I guess we’re all a little crazy yeah?

People are entitled to their opinions, to rob them of that would be wrong. Hence the word ‘Forum’ in the dictionary.

However.

It’s been a little over the top lately… a lot of arguments, duplicate thread making and pointless flaming. I have no problems with those voicing their concerns/views negative or otherwise it’s healthy and can help the game be better and that’s a good thing.

HUGE rants that are poorly typed out (Proof read before you post for the love of god) and filled with hate, cheap shots and general immaturity are not a good thing.

It’s down to us to make positive/fun or just interesting threads to help balance things out. Otherwise nothing will change.

Some people need to realize that there are ways to get your opinion out there and make your voice heard without complaining and bashing everyone that disagrees.

Yes, I hear what you are saying but let me put you in their shoes for a day (the same thing happened with Reach):

  • A new game comes out and in many ways it is faithful to its precursor and in many ways it is not. Players (mainly hardcore fans) will focus on these changes and often times see them as a bad thing.

  • Dedicated fans who frequent the forums will voice their opinions. Some of them do this in an efficient manner and some of them take the time to write out elaborate essays all the while knowing that their opinion may very well fall upon deaf ears (the game developer).

  • While awaiting feedback, players will debate among themselves the intricacies of the topic at hand. Let’s take bloom in Reach as an example:

Player A writes a highly constructive post on how bloom is a detriment to quality gameplay from the casual to the competitive spectrums. There are no insults in this post and it is merely an analysis of the perceived problem.

Player B replies with, “If you don’t like it, don’t play it.”

This happens in thread after thread and it happens hundreds of times on this very forum alone.

The point I am trying to make is that one can be as constructive as they wish. They can be professional and mature the entire way through but that does not mean the response will be just as mature.

It gets tiring for people who have a legitimate gripe with a game or a concept that will be in a game. Especially on this forum alone where negative opinions are seen as bad, for whatever reason. Based on my observations of this forum, I can safely say that not many users here welcome different schools of thought. It’s their (343’s) way or the highway. There is a solid reason why competitive players and other groups who have problems with the game do not typically voice their thoughts here en masse - they do not feel welcomed or listened to.

And THAT is a problem. I do not care if one does not care for the competitive community but at least respect their right to play the game the way they want to.

Thank you, good sir! My point exactly! Does anybody remember the E3 days? I thought it would only last a day, maybe even a week…but the peace on these boards lasted 2 to 3 weeks! Then it slowly got corrupted again, until Rooster Teeth and PAX.

What has changed between now and then to cause the negativity to return? THat’s what I don’t understand. What changed the day of E3 and two weeks later to cause the negativity tor return? Nothing. It just…came…everywhere.

Now that I think about it, I think that the irritation of the anticipation of the game coming out is cause a lot of negative feelings to emerge. You look forward to something so much that it starts to eat away at you, and it starts to irritate you. When you’re irritated, any little thing can cause you to get pissed off. When you’re pissed off, you will complain about things, especially towards or about the source of your irritation/anticipation.

Maybe the complainers are only complaining because they need to let off steam? I don’t know, just wishful thinking, but…

what if the complainers…

are the ones wanting this game more than any of us…? O.o twilight zone music

Well, I am a sociopath…but that’s besides the point, now…

I myself would rather have more suggested content threads than complaint threads (key word being MORE, two or three involving the lates alleged “gamebreaker” and whatnot would be… well, acceptable.)

Generally any complaint threads posted in the early morning, afternoon, are naughty trolls attempting to implode our brains with unheard of logic. Differences of opinion will always be there regardless of how happy aspects of a series, especially one like Halo makes someone. I agree the Halo=COD complaint threads are overdone, it just isnt true or reliable information, both series are far different and Halo’s much higher quality in all aspects.

I would insist the words Call of Duty or COD be banned on these forums as their overuse has been quite stale, and the OP’s unreliable as there infomation is a normally a simple military term that is used in Real Life militarys and those within the gaming franchises. But alas we cant have everything :), but I do believe 343 is just taking the series in some new directions, and they seem fine in my opinion, most of us can move on and adjust pretty well to changes honestly. 343i also seems to listen to the community quite alot, and add in little things that a majority ends up enjoying or have asked about, the Forge improvements, Story telling aspects Halo 4 seems to have is proof of that alone, and enough to show me they care about producing a epic installment of my favorite series.

I couldn’t say it better myself.

The normal mentality is overrated.

I think Vaas from Far Cry 3 has the better definition of insanity.
