In ranked, spawning with 2 frag grenades is too much imo. The issue is most prevalent in modes such as King of the Hill. Spawning with one would encourage more scavenging, less grenade spam and more thought would be put into when to use them.
Why lower grenade count when they don’t register any damage half the time anyway?

All they need to do is bring back friendly fire and it would stop some people from spamming grenades, not all, but most, Friendly fire is one thing I liked about Halo, it stopped people from firing rockets and grenades into every skirmish, you don’t want to take out your own team. A real let-down when they removed it.
Friendly fire is enabled in ranked.
Just wondered, is friendly fire reduced in damage or is it the same for everyone? I haven’t got my first “betrayal” yet, not that I’m actively trying to get one ![]()
It should be enabled everywhere.
Anyway in-topic, in Halo 2 MM they adjusted it across the board to only spawn you with one grenade.
Then in Halo 3, it went back up to two, and stayed there for the rest of the franchise.
Most of the time it’s not that huge an issue. But it was really, really bad in Reach, where between massively increased blast radiuses paired with reduced movement speed, grenades were super spammable and incredibly oppressive.
At this point I’m just happy people can’t hold 8 at a time anymore.
Social is meant for fun. Friendly fire has no place in social.
Ranked has friendly fire enabled. And thats correct this way. Ranked is competitve and friendly fire requires more skill
